Pretty much everything, one of the best camp sites we have been to

Free for all pitch locations. Messy bathrooms (only on one or two days when it was mega busy).

We arrived at Gill Head Farm for our wedding anniversary.
Visited Penrith, Keswick and Pooley Bridge. Also went for a walk around Ullswater and to Aria’s Foce Waterfalls.
The cabin itself was lovely and situated on the edge of the site so you don’t feel exposed and can enjoy peace and quiet, watching red squirrels running through the woods. There is no signal but you may enjoy listening to absolute country station as there is a radiom in the cabin 🎶
There are public showers and toilets on the site but the cabin has its own outside loo and there is a sink with cold running water, hand wash liquid, dish soap and cloths.
There is a cooler box, kettle, toaster microwave, small plug in radiator inside, some plates and cutlery.
Fire place, but you need to bring your own wood I think. It would be great to stay there in the winter, if you keep the fire running 😆
The price was very affordable for two nights we stayed and we would definitely go back there.
There is only one Kipper cabin so availability may be limited but it is definitely worth a visit if you can book it.

Location was amazing. Amenities at the site were clean. Friendly hosts. Beautiful scenery.

On site shop closed at 5 which was a little early for us.

The views from the top pitch were amazing, facilities were great and clean. Our younger children enjoyed the cows at the entrance of the site! The area was easy to explore with a car.

Views over Blencathra are outstanding. Rival those from most campsites in the Lakes. We were travelling as two adults and three children under 8, and facilities were just right. One of the kids was camping for the first time, so a few mod cons helped ease her in. On site laundry, sockets in communal areas to charge devices, spacious hot showers, all helpful for a newbie camper. Plus, having the play area next to the washing up means small children can burn off excess energy before bedtime while an adult can potwash and supervise at the same time.

Didn't need staff much, but they were helpful and friendly whenever we did. Firepit and logs were good value for the week. Nice to be able to walk round to the stream past the more remote camping areas. Location is great for exploring the Northern Lakes.

Only really two main issues for us to be honest. The proximity to an A road is great for ease of access by car, but means the traffic noise is never really absent, even at night. It's not super loud, but if you are used to camping at noise-less sites, it will bother you. For us it was a fair trade off for the facilities on offer. If we were camping as a couple with no kids, we'd go somewhere more remote.

The other thing was that a few families brought dogs that were either quite yappy, or large and intimidating for small children who've had negative past experiences with dogs. A couple of owners let dogs run off the lead. Owners always assure you that their dog is okay, but there's no way to know as a parent. As a very family-oriented campsite, it might be nice if one field was kept as dog-free. Obviously your mileage may vary depending on how your kids are with dogs.

Clean toilets and bathroom

Check-in time is very limited (1 pm-6 pm). However, I believe you can arrive at any time and check in the next morning, but we had to rush to the campsite just to check in!
Not a very quiet area, you could hear the cars passing by in the near main road. Un levelled pitches

Beautiful scenery, clean and tidy, no problems at all with check in got to pick where we wanted to place our tent, lovely, friendly staff, didn't want to come home it was so relaxing and other campers abided by the quiet time rules. We forgot our 3 pronged plug and they supplied one with no hassle.

Nothing

Loved the dog friendly pod, the view, the size of the site and the stream. Site goes quiet about 10pm which is nice for those with younger children or getting an early start.

Not many cooking utilities. There are two microwaves but ones broke and only one toaster. Internet is very weak with only certain areas able to get some if any. Didn't fuss me but if you are on your phone alot this may become a problem.
