Good facilities and pitches, secure site

Coded locks on toilet/shower block a bit over the top. Location is remote. There is noise from the nearby motorway and railway, but it didn't bother us.

Lovely friendly welcome. Site is clean and tidy, bathrooms are spotlessly clean. Will be a regular stop as family nearby

We’ve stay here before for a weekend break and loved the size of the pitch and how convenient everything was to hand, the pub servers fantastic food which was a bonus being just a very short walk from the caravan.
We stayed there this time over new year although there was no entertainment on in the pub, we had a fantastic meal in the Pepper pot inn and were made to feel very welcome.
The only down side of the site is the toilet area could do with some TLC, but all in all the wardens etc did a great job, thank you for a lovely break.

We chose this site for a four night stay because its location was ideal for our purposes and because of its record of positive reviews.

The site is well located for Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust, for Gloucester and Cheltenham and not far from Bristol to the South. Access is easy and straightforward, with no narrow lanes to navigate. There is also a good pub on site serving wholesome pub chain (Quality Inns) food at a very good price (we benefited from a BOGOF offer).

The site is located between the busy M5 motorway and a railway line. Others have drawn attention to the noise from these. While this was noticeable, particularly at night, we did not find it too intrusive.

On arrival, though the site was almost empty, we were allocated to a particular pitch with no choice other than the pitch next door. The whole site, including roadways, is laid to cinder gravel and our pitch was quite uneven, making levelling and even hitching up quite difficult. We later discovered that our row of pitches was allocated to staff and contractor vehicle parking when unoccupied, which may provide some explanation.

Our pitch was supplied with electricity and water (note: you'll need a Hozelock connector) while waste and toilet disposal facilities were provided at separate central locations. An odd feature here: the waste water point is accessed via a two metre grass strip (not ideal in wet weather) followed by three shallow steps (not what you want when emptying a full Waste Master).

The facilities were kept clean (though that must be a rather unpleasant job for the staff given the way the toilets were left by some of the other visitors during our stay) but they were basic. There is a row of unscreened washbasins which reminded me of my Army days, but no shelves are provided so they are rather awkward to use. Next to them, in the gents, is a sheet steel trough urinal of the kind found in some pubs and vandal-proof municipal toilets - not pleasant to use or to look at. The shower cubicles are small and not provided with seating or any other surfaces. Furthermore, for less mobile visitors, there are no grab handles or non-slip mats. The showers themselves are on short timers and there are no temperature controls, though the water was hot and fine for me. Oddly, there are also no soap racks, which makes showering awkward.

Facilities very good. Site well laid out and the neighbouring pub is very good. Site manager (Nicky) was very helpful and approachable.

Pleasant well kept site. Spacious fully serviced pitch with picnic bench. Clean toilet/ shower block with good sized showers and plenty of hot water. Staff were lovely people, very friendly and helpful. Adjacent to country pub serving good food at very reasonable prices.

Some background noise from motorway but did not stop me getting good nights slee.

The New shower is excellent as always toilet area is immaculate the whole site is so clean no litter at all the grass is kept in excellent condition and Nikki is a complete Star can not wait to visit again soon
