Caravan sites in Abersoch

Craving a coastal holiday in north Wales? You’d do well to book a caravan site in Abersoch. This resort on the east-facing south coast of the Llŷn Peninsula is popular with visitors for access to watersports, as well as a range of independent cafés, restaurants and bars. Head here for the annual wakeboarding festival or come anytime of year to sail, surf, sea kayak and swim.

With plenty of well-equipped static caravans on our roster – expect options with comfy bathrooms, full kitchens and cosy bedrooms – there’s the ideal choice for you near Abersoch. Now you just need to pick your park and plan the itinerary…

Where you should stay in Abersoch

  • As this village skims the coast, it’s worth taking a look at our beachside caravan sites in Abersoch. That way, you can stroll down to the sand without having to cart your bucket and spade too far. Take a look at parks near Abersoch beach, a large sheltered bay lined by Crayola-coloured huts. Other local beaches to add to the agenda include Traeth Porth Ceiriad to the south and Traeth Trwyn Y Fach to the north.

  • Stay close to the coast and you can also easily reach the walking path that runs the whole way along the country’s seaside. A loop of the Llŷn Peninsula is 110 miles long – and best tackled over the course of at least a week – or you can simply meander to Machroes for an hour-long stroll from your caravan site in Abersoch.

  • If you’ll be surfing on nearby Hell’s Mouth beach (Porth Neigwl) out of season, make sure the accommodation you’re eyeing up has heating for a blast of warmth after riding the waves on the four miles of uninterrupted shoreline. Not up for grappling with a surfboard? Fishing, kayaking and sunbathing are all pleasant activities to pursue in this part of the Llŷn Peninsula.

  • Feel like venturing a little further afield? Book an Abersoch caravan near the Llŷn Peninsula's other beaches. There’s Tywyn, Porth Ysgaden and Porth Colmon, all of which are quieter than the options around town. Porthor, known as Whistling Sands because of how the sand squeaks under your feet, is a contender for best beach in the area.

What you can do in Abersoch

  • After wandering the Wales Coast Path from your caravan site, set aside around an hour and a half for another worthwhile walk up to the stoney ruins of the hillfort at the top of Carn Fadryn. The views across the peninsula are spectacular from the 371-metre peak, especially at sunset.

  • Sail out to sea on a boat trip to St Tudwal’s East and West islands, just off the village’s main beach, to spot seals, porpoises and Bottlenose dolphins. Fun fact: the western isle belongs to celebrity bushcrafter Bear Grylls.

  • Book your caravan break in Abersoch late August to experience a vibrant annual regatta where you can watch dinghy races or take part in sandcastle-building and crab-catching competitions.

  • Abersoch is known primarily as a summer destination, but finding a site that’s open out of season lets you explore without the crowds. If rain starts to pitter-patter on the caravan roof, visit indoor sights like the National Trust’s Plas yn Rhiw, a manor house surrounded by ornate gardens. When the sun breaks through the clouds you can take in stunning views out over Cardigan Bay.
