Static caravans in North Wales

Whether you’re planning to hike your way around Snowdonia, hit the beaches of Anglesey or take a tour of all the area’s castles, there’s much to be said for having a hot shower and a cosy lounge to come back to at the end of your day out in north Wales. Stay in a static caravan and you’ll have all this in your own individual space, and often you’ll also be able to continue taking in those scenic views while relaxing on the sofa or sitting out on your deck. Sound like a great mix? Read on for our advice on static caravan holidays in north Wales – where to go, what to do and how to pick your place to stay.

Where you should stay in North Wales

  • The North Wales coastline has so much to see and do – from walks along the Wales Coast Path to riding the cable car up the Great Orme in Llandudno. And what better way to make the most of it than to stay in a caravan near the beach? If you’re here on a family holiday, aim for areas that also have kid-friendly attractions nearby – Rhyl (for the SeaQuarium) and Colwyn Bay (for the Welsh Mountain Zoo) are both good choices.

  • Fancy something a bit more remote? Anglesey has plenty of secluded spots to explore, from hidden coves to walks through wildlife-rich nature reserves. Have a look around places like Moelfre for some quiet time or head to a slightly bigger village like Benllech for easier access to shops and places to eat. Our guide to Anglesey’s best beaches might give you a few ideas of where to go too.

  • If you love exploring historic places, there should be lots to keep you busy around North Wales. Stay somewhere around Conwy for visits to the area’s many castles or a drive over the Menai Bridge to explore Anglesey’s ancient sites.

  • For outdoor adventures, it really has to be somewhere in or around Snowdonia National Park. Keen mountain climbers will want to base themselves close to peaks like Tryfan or Crib Goch; those in search of less ambitious outings may like to aim instead for walking hotspots like Beddgelert or Betws-y-Coed.

  • Dogs are welcome in many of our static caravans around North Wales – just make sure you’re booking something from our range of dog-friendly caravans if you’re planning to bring a canine family member along. If they’re keen to have a run about by the sea, choose somewhere near dog-friendly beaches like Talacre or Pwllheli.

What you can do in North Wales

  • Along with those walks and mountain hikes there are lots of other outdoor activities around in North Wales – try the inland surf lake at Adventure Parc Snowdonia, tee off with a sea view at Porthmadog Golf Club or scream your way down the world’s fastest zipline at ZipWorld Penrhyn Quarry. (Too much activity? There are plenty of places to go fishing instead…)

  • Wales has a truly impressive collection of castles – and some of the very best are up here in North Wales. Caernarfon, Conwy and Beaumaris should all be on the list for first-time visitors, but there’s plenty more beyond those (perhaps Harlech, Dolbadarn, Castell Dinas Brân…) For a break from all the ancient buildings, it’s well worth spending a day exploring the pretty village of Portmeirion too – some say it’s like a little piece of Italy transported to the Welsh coast.

  • As well as historic buildings, North Wales has a good supply of heritage railways – fans of classic engines can take rides on the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway from Porthmadog, the Ffestiniog Railway from Blaenau Ffestiniog and the steam-powered services that run from Llangollen. The Conwy Valley Railway Museum is a great place to visit, too.
