  • Excellent facilities and transport links, 3km from Mar Menor beaches
  • Sunny days in the region for almost all of the year
  • Pool, poolside bar, restaurant and wide range of summer entertainment
This splendid site is right among the shopping centres, supermarkets and street markets of San Javier. Pack the sunscreen and the swimwear: Camping San Javier is in sunny Mar Menor, a region with a year-round average temperature of 22C°. Beaches are three kilometres from the site; within 10, you can reach the popular place of Lo Pagan, famed for its therapuetic mud baths. Facilities on site include an outdoor pool, with a big waterslide and two separate areas, one for babies and kids to splash safely and one for more peaceful pool times. A bar is next to the pool, for appetisers, fruit, mojitos and other goodies, served during the day or later under the moonlight: both much recommended... Another bar serves snacks and cold drinks, while the restaurant dishes up local and international dishes from seasonal and a la carte menus. There's a barbecue area too if you want to bring foodie bits back from town: again: all options here fully recommended… If you do decide to get active near these beaut beaches and that fab pool, the site sports area has a cardio circuit, and multisports court for all sorts of games including basketball, padel tennis, football and pétanque. Camping San Javier also has a playground – as it's not a relaxing hol unless the kids are sorted too.

Local attractions

Several walking routes and mountain hiking trails are in the area if your tastes tend towards the more active, or you could take to the waters for sailing, kitesurfing or diving with the assistance of one of the Mar Menor watersports centres. Ambles around the protected wetlands of the Salinas and Arenales of San Pedro del Pinatar are to Mar Menor's north. Also around, and also recommended, are the free guided tours and big Wednesday market of seaside town Santiago de la Ribera, 15 minutes away by bus, and more free tours and a Monday market at San Pedro del Pinatar, half an hour by bus or 15 minutes by car. The latter is also the tourist and information point for the Salinas de San Pedro Regional Park: twitchers, your birdwatching territory is here. Back in town, San Javier has become quite the festival spot in recent years, holding the International Jazz Festival and the San Javier Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance among others: ask the site team for details of what's on during your stay.

Jaima safari tent

Liked: Swimming pool, nice food in the restaurant, friendly receptionist

Disliked: We stayed there for a 8 nights in the jamima tent (tent was ok as we do glamping). My advice to provide large (floor one) fan - specially in the summer. Please note that you will be extra charged for a fridge, cooker, microwave - even in on pitch up features is saying in is included. There is a deposit you must pay of 100E (there was no inforamtion before I booked) and is should be. The campsite is NOT open/ welcome for foreigner. 80% of the campsite looks like they live there permanently and they make you feel like you disturbed them (kids kicking our tent, shouting, running until 2-3am) - parents dont care. Showers/toilet are dirty(cleaning once a day). No toilet paper (you must have your own) and take it each time with you. After the weekend, in the toilets - no doors, broken locks, handles. All infomration are in spainish language - you have to ask about eveything at reception, like( pool opening times, how to book the tenis court, restaurant opening times, etc) - on arrival no inforamtion at all.

2 bedroom cottage / chalet / bungalow (six person)

Jaima safari tent

Liked: Pool was great for the children with free activities almost daily

Disliked: Check in time when booking was 2pm arrived at site and no one at reception - another person staying at the site informed me it was 5pm. Called number on booking and no answer. 5pm came and checked in and feed back after showing booking confirmation and check in time was disregarded. Went to our tent to find no kitchen facilities as indicated when booking - so again went to inform them and they told us we had to book in advance. I said we were not aware of this and was very misleading. Said we needed urgently as had brought fresh food. 5 per day for each item if available. Waited at tent until 7.30pm to follow up and was then informed we didn't need to be there for delivery. Arrived just after 7.40pm. So the children got 10 mins pool time. We were not allowed to bring any refreshments to the pool whether they were brought from our tent or purchased at the restaurant connected to the pool. We challenged this and that we have followed the rules displayed at the pool and nowhere did it state we couldn't bring fluids. We had been accused of smoking in the area which was not true and told by the owner that unless we followed his rules he would call the police! We brought our own fluids because it was over 30 degrees of heat and the children needed to be hydrated. We were told we would have to go back to our tent if thirsty. We also saw other guests drinking water and were not challenged Apart from the permanent residents at the site we were the only English/ Irish staying at the site and it was clear from the start that they did not want to make us feel welcome and treated us differently from the Spanish guests. The campsite was packed and like a shanty town. Dogs were allowed to roam without a lead and do their business. Bins were small and always full of rubbish. The lights on our road were flashing constantly during the night - I guess our own personal disco. The sleeping part of our tent was riddled with fleas, and smelt very bad.

Fully-serviced gravel pitch

Liked: NOTHING!!! AVOID THIS SITE!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Disliked: This should not be a touring site. It looks like an immigration holding centre. All residential in shanty Town like roads. Music and noise till 2/3am in the morning, children roaming feral around the site past midnight. A very large group ( 70+) of teenagers staying on the weekend, they should have told us when booking. I would give it no score if there was an option. We left after one night, reception staff couldn't care less, read the reviews!!!! Will be speaking to pitch upas to why they are advertising this place, its dreadful

Fully-serviced gravel pitch

Liked: Nothing much to like about this place at all. The photos on your website were nothing like what we saw.

Disliked: Every thing ! Had great difficulty manoeuvring our Motorhome into our assign pitch. Shocked to see all pitches covered in scrim ! It looked dismal and grubby! The rubbish bin across from us full to over flowing when we arrived and never emptied. Rubbish blowing everywhere. Bathrooms where sometimes clean but not for long. Too many people using them! Driving to our pitch and later walking around the whole camp it was noticeable that 99% occupants were permanent residents. It was very depressing seeing them squashing in so much and living like they do. Not a tourist camp ! I tried to cancel our 2 nd night booking but office lady referred me back to Pitch up. No refunds ! The pool was closed for 2 and half hours in the afternoon?? I was told “:for lunch “ ridiculous! When I did visit after 5 pm there were hoards waiting for pool to open and then mayhem . Not a pleasant experience at all. On the first night we were there it was very noisy till after 3 am . Kids wandering through our pitch all day and night. An overcrowded dump!

Fully-serviced gravel pitch

Liked: Food in the restaurant was good but simple, if it was available . lots of dishes on the menu but not many were available . The receptionist was very efficient and explained the site well . Entrance to the campsite was good ( plenty of room ) for towing caravan in .

Disliked: Toilets were poor no hot water taps at all ,urinals were covered with plastic bags and no loo paper at all . We arrived and were hot and hungry I wanted to use the pool but it was not open , the manager said that the pool would be open on the 15th of the month , in the next breath he said it would be open on the Thursday 09/06/2022 . The description online said the pool was open from 02/06/2022 which was a big factor in me booking this site as in my search there were several sites cheaper than this one but as it had a pool I booked it , I was informed that the site had taken the full amount on my receipt and not the small deposit so I could not pull out on arrival . As for hungry I saw that there were people sat outside the restaurant with drinks so we walked round to eat no such luck as the restaurant was closed on Monday

From the manager: Dear customer, we are sorry that the information was not correct, the website indicates that the pool would be open on June 15, we are not responsible for the publications of other portals that are not ours. As for the hot water in the outside taps is not provided, however and you forgot to indicate, is that in all groups of toilets if there is hot and cold water. We are sorry for your experience and invite you to come back. Regards.
