  • Shuttle bus to town every 30 minutes
  • Restaurant, bar and barbecue area on site
Right. Firmness is probably needed here. If you're in the habit of holidaying fairly regularly in Spain and you haven't yet been to San Sebastián in the Basque country, it's a firm fact that you really should, and soon. San Sebastián is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain and has been described as the country's 'most elegant and fashionable seaside resort' (high praise indeed…) And you might want to stay at WeCamp San Sebastián too: it's only five kilometres from the resort's gorgeous Ondarreta beach, in a sublime setting between the mountains and the sea, and – how super – runs a shuttle bus to San Sebastián every 30 minutes. Hurrah! WeCamp San Sebastián is a family-friendly site with modern facilities, including an up-to-date amenities block with plenty of showers and loos, hot and cold water all the day and night long, and coin-operated washers and dryers. Lockers of varying sizes are to hand so guests can keep their stuff snugly secure. For eats, tasty local meals are dished up at the site restaurant and a roomy barbecue area with picnic tables is available for guests' use. Thirsts can be slaked at the WeCamp San Sebastián bar and supplies sorted at the on-site supermarket; shops and restaurants are just over half a kilometre away.

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch (premium)

Liked: Reception and customer service excellent, very , very helpful. We’re used to Spanish bank holidays but always replied to my email’s as due to storm ferry cancelled. If you travelling in a motor home please take their advice and take the beach road and ignore your Sat Nav. Number 16 autobus down from camp site to San Sebastián to visit the old town and sea front easy there and back. Not free but only a couple of euro’s and easy to use from camp site and back from town. We really enjoyed the tapas and pincho bars. San Sebastián is truly a must if you travelling in the of North Spain and near Bilbao.

Disliked: We visited in November.Plots close together.::: so I can imagine it busy in the summer. We did not visit bar/ coffee shop or restaurant as winter season but it was open, unlike other motor home camping sities. We walked around and all the staff team were kind and helpful. We didn’t have our dogs but I believe dogs are welcome on site.?

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch (plus)

Liked: Lovely pitch, lovely views (albeit not from our pitch but just a stroll to edge of campus). Bus into San Seb was great - if never been before it’s like a sight-seeing tour!! Tapas & areas in old town are fantastic - the whole area is stunning!

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch (plus)

Liked: Facilities very good although pool had closed for the season before we arrived. Great bus service into San Sebastian which was a lovely place to visit for beaches and old town and fantastic Tapas. Staff friendly. Nice bar, and OK shop on site.

Disliked: Pitches were all a bit close together and as the whole site is on a hill some of the pitches are a long way from level. Our pitch backed onto the road which could be noisy, although generally quiet overnight, and dogs at neighbouring farm were very yappy.

Non-electric grass and gravel campervan pitch

Liked: Did not stay longer enough to like anything.

Disliked: Very rude staff on reception. Pitches very, very small, on such a slope that the gas and hydraulic levelling system would not work. A mountain goat would struggle on these pitches. Although booked for 2 nights we moved to Camping Zumaia which had friendly and extremely helpful staff, level pitches which excellent facilities.

Liked: Reception staff really helpful but, when I paid in full and realised the pitch is too small the reception staff refused a refined. So we had to stay in the touring pitches which was much better. Really nice restaurant excellent value for money. Showers and toilets really good lovely and clean. Bus stop outside a bus every 20 minutes bus number 16, to the city and back to the camp site. I warmed up the site and would stay there again.

Disliked: Pitches to small for the larger motor homes but the touring Pitches were good, but could be a little larger.

Local attractions

San Sebastián city centre is 15 minutes’ drive from WeCamp San Sebastián – or do get that 30-minute shuttle bus... Once in town, firmly recommended are scenic strolls along its three beaches: La Concha, the surf centre Zurriola, and Ondarreta, a family-friendly and large stretch of sand also known for its surfing and bodyboarding. San Sebastián is quite the foodie city too – many inhabitants are members of the local gourmet clubs – and has heaps of well-renowned restaurants at which to sample Basque and other cuisine. It's a cultural place as well, home of the San Sebastián International Film Festival and of Jazzaldia, the longest continuously running jazz festival in Europe; small wonder that, along with Wroclaw in Poland, San Sebastián was awarded European City of Culture for 2016... The city is also (sí, there's a whole heap more) famed for its pintxos, the small bars of the region serving tapas alongside its drinks. Head to the San Sebastián Old Town to try the best of them: another reason this city is a must is that it has the highest concentration of bars in the world.
