- Two minutes' cycle from a river valley Via Verde
- Wine producing area with wine tours and cellars
- Pool, recreation area, bike hire, bar-restaurant and play area
The campsite of Tarragona's is around the best of Bot. For it's next to one of the most cracking Via Verde in Catalonia, a green way running for around 90 kilometres from Alcañiz to Tortosa across the Canaletes river valley (it's a traffic-free trail so is stress-free if you're pedalling around the region with the offspring).
More grownuply, the steep and dry landscapes of the region means this is cracking wine-producing land too, with plenty of wine cellars and wine tours around for Spanish plonk fans. No to wine? The region also bottles up spiffing extra virgin olive oil.
And then there's the site setting. Camping is separated into terraces all shaded with olive trees, with views most def on the spectacular scale – this is mountain and forest land so lush that you might recognise it from several paintings by Picasso. (The surreal one used to hang out around here in the summer months.)
Among all the landscape and greenery, Camping has a pool to dip into on hot days, a recreation area to mingle at, a TV for footie matches and a play area. Rather handily for a setting only a couple of minutes away from a Via Verde, bike hire is available on site.
If you want to sample the regional cuisine as well as its wine and olive oil, the bar-restaurant serves seasonal products, grilled meat, sausages and charcuterie, all produced in the area.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.

The nearby Via Verde is but a mere two minutes' pedal away from Camping . We suggest either just pedalling off and getting a tad lost, or having a more organised day out to one of the team's most fave spots on the route, La Fontcalda Sanctuary in the Canaletes river valley. The Sanctuary centres around the remains of a fourteenth century church, in a wide open green area and church square near the river. A restaurant and bar are open during the summer and on weekends during the spring.
And there is of course also the wine... Piles of wine cellars are around to tour, but if you don't want to travel/stagger too far, try the two at the campsite's local village: Cooperativa Agrícola Sant Josep and Celler Menescal.
If you're a history buff, look for several sites and ruins locally relating to the Battle of the Ebro, the biggest and longest battle in the Spanish Civil War.
Four mountain ranges are around the comarca for hikes and climbing: Serra de Cavalls, Serra de la Fatarella, Serra de Pàndols and Serra dels Pesells; or around the Tarragona area you could travel along to the coast, spy the wildlife of the Ebro Delta Nature Park, or see how far you can get along the Penedès Wine and Cava Route, the trail with wine-based activities as well as local foodie festivals along its route.
