Between the mountains of the Pyrenees and the sandy beaches of the Costa Brava… this setting just screams Spanish serenity. La Soleia d'Oix is a small family-run park in the Alta Garrotxa region of Catalonia, an area filled with nature, wildlife, birdwatching, deep valleys and high high peaks – and surely this says hiking and nature spotting too…?
La Soleia d'Oix has free wifi, bike hire, a seasonal swimming pool and a restaurant/pizzeria with a strong focus on sourcing and dishing up fresh local produce.
This is also a family-friendly place and has a playground for small guests as well as an on-site nursery – that screams Spanish serenity too.

The most magnif Alta Garrotxa area halfway between the mountains and the sea is popular Spainwide for its activities and landscapes: here you'll find gorges slashed into rock, the volcanic zone Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa with over 40 cones, parts filled with forest, steep mountains and long cliffs along with old Catalonian villages and ancient archaeological sites.
Head here for climbing, mountain biking, hiking and horse riding, or don binoculars and go birdwatching around the valley of the River Fluvià. You could also try wafting over the region in a hot-air balloon, a most magnif way to see this scenery from a peaceful place.
A short drive from La Soleia d'Oix are the old fishing port of Roses, a lot to see in Garrotxa capital Olot, and the Cap de Creus town of Cadaqués, holiday home of oddball artist Salvador Dali.
