  • In Alt Pirineu Natural Park and with mountain views
  • Five kilometres from the medieval town of La Bisbal
  • Bouncy castle, restaurant, free wifi and high season entertainment
What a comely Cataluña site with splendid surroundings is Camping L'Espelt, slap bang in the middle of the beaut Alt Pirineu Natural Park. This is the biggest nature park in Catalonia and has the highest Pyrenees peaks – you'll be able to see mountain views right from your tent or tourer. Camping L'Espelt is a family-owned site with clean and modern facilities (and we did mention the mountain views?) and a high amount of things to do for kids including a playground, bouncy castle and small padel tennis court. A ping pong table and a pool table are also on site for Catalonian competitiveness, and the L'Espelt team organises entertainment and disco nights in high season (Catalonian cancan?). Quick bites, takeaways and tasty treats from regional menus are all available in the on-site snack bar and restaurant, which also has free wifi. When venturing off site, more of the same is at the (also very comely) medieval town of La Bisbal about five kilometres away.

Local attractions

Before owt else, we'd recommend a wander straight from site off or up into the loveliness of the surrounds and peaks of Alt Pirineu Natural Park, home to many animal and plant protected species as well as the biggest glacial lake in the Spanish Pyrenees, Lake Certascan, and Catalonia's highest peak, the Pica d’Estats. Info, exhibitions and workshops on Alt Pirineu can be found in its offices at Llavorsí. Elsewhere around Camping L'Espelt, a tourist train is two kilometres away and Catalonian petrol mines within ten; the modernist Artigas Gardens are at the La Pobla de Lillet town of Guardiola de Berguedà four kilometres from the site. See also one of Catalonia's most well-known mountains, the peak of Pedraforca 20km away, and, if you prefer to plunge down slopes rather than haul yourself sweatily up them, the nearest ski resort is about 25km away.
