- Secluded site in the Algarve countryside, 25 minutes' drive from Faro
- A 25-minute walk to Moncarapacho and 15 minutes' drive to the coast
- Comfy glamping units, outdoor pool and honesty bar
Morning on the beach, afternoon by the pool (perhaps with a beer or two as evening approaches), then a stroll into town for a little bistro dinner… what a pleasing way to spend a few Algarve days.
Stay at Olive Tree Yurts and Lodge and that’s pretty much how the days run – it’s a 15-minute drive to the Algarve coast’s fab beaches from this relaxed rural spot, or you may elect to board a boat trip through the Ria Formosa Natural Park, keeping peepers peeled for flamingos, storks and other birds.
Whichever way you turn for your day’s amusement, eventually you’ll end up back at base for dips in the 10 x 5-metre swimming pool or a bit of poolside sunbathing; snaffle cold beers from the honesty bar to help complete your picture of relaxation.
Come dinner time, you may like to take the 25-minute saunter along the footpath into the nearest village, Moncarapacho, for pickings from the cafés, bars and little local bistros. There’s also a butcher, seafood market and a couple of supermarkets if you’d rather pick up supplies for a barbie back at base.
So that’s the days sorted… what of the nights? They’re likely to be most pleasing too, as they’ll be spent in comfy and well-furnished glamping units; each one has its own shower and toilet and plenty of space to relax either cosied up inside or taking in the fresh air outdoors.

For many folk the name that springs to mind when you mention the Algarve is Faro – and the resort (25 minutes’ drive away) is a fine place to stop for beach days and watersports, or wanders around the Old Town and ancient city walls.
If you like your beaches a little less developed, aim instead for the stretch of fine white sand at Fuseta (15 minutes) or board boats from Olhão (20 minutes) to little island beaches around the lagoon. Stretching back from the lagoon is the Ria Formosa Natural Park (15 minutes), one of Portugal’s most important areas for bird life and a fab park to explore by bike, boat or kayak, or on a guided walk.
Should you fancy a dip in a pool somewhat larger than the one on site, head for the huge range of colourful waterslides and rides at Aquashow Park (25 minutes). Something a little less wild? The Roman villa and pastel-hued Rococo palace in Estoi (15 minutes) make for a tiptop day’s wandering.
