  • Family-friendly site surrounded by forest
  • Fishing pond and several sports areas
  • Café bar, pool, miniature golf, playgrounds and trampoline
Peace and space? First-rate facilities? A family vibe among the green surroundings of the North Brabant region and the spectacular wildlife haven of the Beek valley and the nearby forests and moorlands of the Kempen? Obviously these will tick any sensible sort's holiday boxes, so do arrange a trip to Eurocamping Vessem. Query the Dutch-, German- and English-speaking crew of this scenic family-friendly park for recommendations on where best to explore first in the area, from hikes in the surrounding forest to a potter around the old market of nearby Eersel, or play parks, museums and city sightseeing at Eindhoven within half an hour's drive. This big woodland park has a full summer programme of leisurely activities for all ages (think foam parties, kids' discos, card games and lively music evenings), alongside stacks of sports facilities: think huge pétanque area, paved street football courts, beach volleyball and tennis. One of the most excellent features of this excellent family site is the number of playgrounds, set strategically around the grounds so that even impatient offspring never have to go far to get into their swings, sliding and climbing groove. The giant bouncing pillow should keep the most energetic occupied, and there's a fine on-site pond too, where all ages can try their luck fishing, or just waddle along to look at the ducks. Key to the site's success is its big pool, surrounded by a sun terrace and a paddling pool. For food, there's a café-bar, and a supermarket stocked with daily essentials.

Liked: A large park with clean facilities. A special shout out to the staff who were extremely helpful and accommodating. We had hired bikes, but as a 4ft 9 woman I was unable to ride the adults bike provided. The staff went out of their way to find me a bike that I could manage.

Disliked: We couldn't find a schedule for the entertainment. But that didn't affect our stay.

Liked: Great campsite, 2nd time we have been here. Staff really helpful and really nice. Loads to do for kids and the site is massive. Swimming pool, bounce pillow, mini golf, go carts, Small shop on site and also a bar. Great washing facilities and WC's dotted all over the site which is excellent as you don't have to far to go as the site is so big.

Disliked: I think that the bar should do meals and not just snacks. We arrived quiet late and would have loved to have just pitched up and gone for a meal but there was only small snacks. .

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Everything. The staff here are exceptional. Nothing was to much. Honestly, amazing. From the pitch. Showering/Toilet/Washing up facilities which were everywhere in camp and so modern. 5*. The staff were so so friendly, helpful and checked in when out and about on their gold buggies. The three swimming pools were spotless clean. Fabulous chill out grass areas. Playing parks for the kids all over the place, Parents could watch their children from the location of their pitches. Sweetest animal farm near the entrance. Mini golf. Club house. It goes on. Would visit this location again with a big lazy sun-bed chair, few books, good wine and more time. Shop open in the morning for fresh bread and pastries with provisions. Pool cafe opens once shop closes. Bar is open isn’t the evening with hot food served, pool and air con… I say this cause the day we arrived it was 33 degrees, so very welcome. The hours may differ in the heart of the season but please check this.

Disliked: Leaving.

Disliked: Booked 6th-7th July Paid £30 per night ! I looked at reviews first which said very good and as it had a bar , restaurant, and shop on site decided to go for it , we got there 6pm in the evening and nothing was open we were told nothing would be open till Friday !!!! So had to the village to eat , Friday midday still nothing open not the bar , cafe or shop plus the place was empty certainly not what we expected hight of season so we left even though we had paid to 2 night we were so bored Also paid the bill in full on pitch up there fees plus camp site booking fees when we turned up they want more money tourist tax ! Sorry but when you pay your bill in full if there is more fees you should be told in advance Free Wi-Fi was terrible but of course there was a option to pay but you couldn’t buy it for just one day Main reception not open after 6pm but you could phone

Local attractions

These green and peaceful surroundings are splendid for cycling for all ages: hire a bike from the Eurocamping Vessem team to pedal around the nearby forest trails, or on some of the 229 kilometres of moorland to the north of the site at the Neterselse Heath. Local town Eersel is in the famed Kempen area, a natural region in the south-eastern Netherlands stretching across to north-eastern Belgium. Part of it includes the pine forest, rivers and heathland of the Hoge Kempen Nationaal Park, and its 200 kilometres of walking trails, guided ranger tours, 100-metre high peaks and paths for cycling and horse riding. Beekse Bergen, with its zoo, water play area and kid-friendly attractions, is less than half an hour by car, and there are more indoor and outdoor rides, play areas and slides at the Dippie Doe carnival family park at Best. For another great family day out, the magical world of the Efteling theme park is a 40-minute drive away.
