Generously-sized grass pitch

General

  • Family-friendly site with great views in the Upper Sûre Natural Park
  • A 20-minute' drive from the museums of Wiltz and Bastogne
  • Cosy restaurant and bar with open terrace for meals, drinks and snacks

Just check out those views – rather fab, non? Take them in as you ramble or pedal your way along the trails that wend their way through the gorgeous countryside around Camping Um Bierg, or plonk down right there to gaze out over them with minimal effort from your super spot on the terraced hillside.

Nippers not sharing your enthusiasm for staring at the scenery? No problem – there’s plenty to interest them too. Charging about at the playground, bounding on the trampoline or playing games of volleyball or football can all be followed by a session in the pool to cool off.

Parents tasked with overseeing the fun proceedings will no doubt be chuffed to hear that they can most likely do so from the comfort of the restaurant terrace, which overlooks the pool. Amble over here at any time of day to select from the menu of main meals (using veg from the site's own organic garden), snacks, hot drinks and cakes, or pull up a chair in the cosy bar area to wind down from the day’s antics.

The fine folk here will also happily provide you with fresh bread for morning eats, and organise regular sociable table d’hôte dinners where you can natter with your neighbours over a seasonal dinner and maybe a drink or few.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/07 and 31/08 (subject to weather conditions).

The restaurant is open between 15/03 and 31/10.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Fabulous location, with wonderful walks on small country roads straight from the campsite. Good pitches and very clean facilities. Especially loved the baby bath at sink-height!

Our small children (2 and 4) loved it and rarely wanted to leave the campsite... They were more than content with the campsite's 3 playgrounds and occasionally heading down into the village to check out the playground there. Also happy with the indoor playroom and generally running or cycling around.

The shopping centre 6km away was handy for picking up anything we needed and getting cash (we spotted the indoor play area which would be good for very rainy days though we didn't see it in time) and we had many trips to Bastogne, where the kids loved the farm/ spinning museum- Animalaine - which features a great playground too.

The hosts, staff and volunteers were all wonderful and really helpful and welcoming. And the food was great at the restaurant when we didn't want to cook.

    Disliked:

A second washing machine would be practical for the size of the campsite at least in August as it was in regular demand.

Lovely site with large pitch and a lovely view. Welcoming reception team. Arrived after the food was being served so the owners made us a salad with home made quiche. Very nice gesture and they couldn't be more helpful in recommending walks etc. Great base to see sites and would definitely stay again.

This no reflection on the owner but there were 3 Irish gypsie family’s on the site, they didn’t bother us at all however I don’t think many English caravaners would be happy to share the site with them

There was a nice feel to the camp site at Um Bierg. Judith came out to meet us as we arrived and was very friendly. Facilities are fantastic and there is a warm and friendly bar area. The pitches are all private and the entire site is quite secluded.

    Disliked:

Mosquitos, lots of Mostquitoes (not the campsites fault, but take repellant)

Local attractions

Bring your bike or your boots – the scenery of the Upper Sûre Natural Park is bound to entice you out to cover many miles on its network of trails. Make it as far as the vast Upper Sûre lake eight kilometres away and you can reward your efforts with a swim or a spot of canoeing, sailing or windsurfing.

A 20-minute drive away in Wiltz there’s a handsome castle and several museums dedicated to the events of World War II. Those fond of a decent tipple may also like to check out the National Brewery Museum and microbrewery, in the castle’s old stable block.

If you’re interested in learning more about the war and the role this area played, nip over the Belgian border to Bastogne (20 minutes’ drive) for visits to the Bastogne War Museum and the 101st Airborne Museum.
