General

  • On the banks of the Tiber river, 3km outside Prima Porta
  • Rome city centre 25 minutes away; shuttle bus available
  • Half-sized Olympic pool surrounded by a spacious solarium

Should you be seeking a site within easy vicinity of the Vatican and the many other sights and attractions around central Rome, then your interest may just be piqued by this park, three kilometres outside Prima Porta on the banks of the Tiber river.

Camping Village Tiber’s locale outside the Eternal City (16 kilometres, to be precise) means that you can quite easily alternate days investigating the piazzas, museums and galleries that dot the streets of Rome with days spent relaxing by the pool, wandering around the pine forest that surrounds the site, or ambling along the banks of the Tiber.

A swift 25-minute shuttle is on hand to speed guests directly to the city centre, where magnifico piazzas and world-famed sights such as the Trevi Fountain, the Vatican City, the Colosseum and the Spanish Steps can be admired at leisure before heading back to base to make use of the park’s more than ample facilities.

And speaking of stuff to do on site… Camping Village Tiber is sorted for whatever type of siteside day you fancy: as well as the half-size Olympic pool (open and lifeguarded from May to September), there’s a solarium from which to keep a close eye on littlies’ splashtime (while you're half horizontal on the solarium’s sun loungers, natch), as well as a spacious garden furnished with sunbeds and parasols for more R&R-time reclining.

The supermarket is open daily for fresh fruit and veg, health and beauty bits and basic camping odds and sods; freshly baked bread is sold there too, and if ever you run low, every morning you'll be able to pick up morning morsels such as milk, butter and jam (or Italian cheeses and cooked deli meats if the climate makes you go all continental).

Pitches are well spaced out, and the showers and toilets are oft saluted for their spotlessness – as are the staff for their amiability.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/06 and 30/09 (subject to weather conditions).

A convenient location to get the train to Rome. Toilets and showers are clean and modern. Pitches are a good size. Swimming pool is a good size but it's a big site so busy.

    Disliked:

Dusppinting that the bus didn't take you to Rome as advertised! It does however take you to the station nearby and it is an easy journey into Rome just a bit daunting at first when you don't know where to go. The train is cheap at 1.5 euro for 90 mins of continuous travel so 3 euro return which also includes the underground.

Great price, close to Rome, shuttle to Rome center only 1 euro, a super great deal. Also this is a biggie for backpacking the people said they would always find a place for walk ins with a small backpacking size tent. The staff are super helpfull.

    Disliked:

This is not really a complaint, but just be ready for ants, they tend to hang out mostly by the trees and they bite hard. There is a sign that they spray for insects on the 15th and 30th of the month, if memory serves me correctly, nothing online lets you know this. I must admit that there were no mosquitoes, but clearly not working on the ants. At any rate I would check on the date they plan on sprating and avoid that day if you can.

Cute cabins 13/07/2017

  • 1 bedroom cabin

  • Liked:

The cabin was great it had comfy beds, a good shower and had a fan(cheaper than pitching up our tent too). The staff were so helpful whenever we needed anything.

    Disliked:

The pool needed a good clean(plasters and what looked to be like skins and hair at the bottom of the pool). Opening hours of the supermarket and wasn't much to offer in the shop. Although we don't mind a walk, the metro was about a 30 mins a walk away (you could get a shuttle bus I think from the campsite but you had to pay and we are backpacking across Europe so every penny counts for us so just walked it)

From the manager...

Thank you for your comment.
We are happy to know you spent a nice stay here at Camping Tiber, and that you noticed our staff courtesy.
The pool is cleaned every night and regularly clorium procedures prevent every kind of problems, during the day when a crowd is in the water unfortunately some issue may happen.
We will be happy to welcome you again for your next Roman Holidays!

Local attractions

As aforementioned, the world-famed sights of Roma are a speedy 25-minute shuttle ride away, so you're in a tiptop spot for easy access to strolls around its stradas and piazzas while gazing skyward at all the architectural achievements (so renowned there’s no need to namedrop) of residents past.

Veio Regional Park lies right next door too: pedal or promenade around forests filled with holm oaks and poplars, willows and alders, or spot yourself wild critters such as salamanders, snakes, kites and kingfishers. Lake Bracciano is also an easy half an hour’s drive away for canoeing, scuba diving and sailing.

If you’ve got a car and fancy something sand-based, head over to Ostia, an easy 40 minutes’ drive away. Plenty of pristine sandy beaches lie around here, including ones near Stella Polare, Castel Fusano and Cristoforo Colombo.
