Loads to do is all around Camping Romantische Strasse in Wurttemberg's Tauber valley – and the place itself is pretty fab too, with piles of space, piles to do and very fab scenery. The site sits on about 15 acres of land a few steps away from a small lake (a fine place to cool off on blazing summer days), and is about 20 kilometres north of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. A fishing lake is at Herrgottstal about a kilometre and a half away. And if the weather is being a tad uncooperative? Spend the day at Romantische Strasse's indoor options of swimming pool, solarium and sauna; the park also has ping pong tables, a playground, miniature golf and a barbecue area. Bike rental is available on site. And whether rain or shine, visit the talented team at the site restaurant to sample some/a lot of the local cuisine.

Local attractions

There are plenty of places to get out for a walk or bike ride in the area around Camping Romantische Strasse – if you're up for travelling on two wheels, try out the Taubertalradweg bike path, which you can pick up a couple of kilometres away for riverside rides. Plenty of towns and cities are around to pick from within a 50-kilometre radius for urban days out including Weikersheim, Würzburg, Langenburg, Dinkelsbühl, Bad Mergentheim and Rothenburg ob der Tauber with its preserved medieval Old Town. This last one is a popular stop on the German tourist trail and is part of the Romantic Road through Germany's south: take time to visit the Criminal Museum and wander along the pretty paths of the Burggarten, and to see the old town hall, the old smithy and the double bridge over the Tauber.
