Good campsite with lovely staff, good amenities and level pitches. 15/08/2017

The campsite is in an ideal location, a short walk from the main town, surrounded by vineyards wherever you look. Fleurie is famous for its wine after all! Our camping pitch for our tent was a good size, pretty level with well kept hedges around and a tree so you could gain shade on hot sunny days. Staff are all friendly and speak several languages. The reception shop has basics and there is a freezer for campers to refreeze 'blue blocks' for cool boxes. You can preorder bread/croissants the night before. Activities vary through the week e.g. burger & chips night, winetasting of local winemakers products, crazy table tennis. Shower/toilet facilities are adequate. Would recommend and will return. Plenty of stuff nearby to explore and visit for a weeks holiday. There is a common room with TV and pool table, lots of reading books and plenty of local tourist info leaflets to look through. Outside there is a small play area for little ones. The covered swimming pool was lovely, with a small selection of sunbeds. There is also a sauna but we did not use this. Wifi is available.

    Disliked:

There is a strip of pitches at the bottom of the campsite for tents and caravans, which would not suit a long stay as they are small/cramped. I imagine they may be used for overnight stopovers.
The majority of the tourist info leaflets were not in English so maybe this could be considered when restocking.

Local attractions

Set out by foot, bike or hoof from VivaCamp La Grappe Fleurie into the area of Fleurie vineyards, the Beaujolais Verts and the Saône Valley, all known for their spectacular scenery, biking, hiking and horse riding, and – but naturally – the tasting of their wines.

Options in the area include staggering around the region's wine cellars and wine trails including the Beaujolais Wine Route, and around the villages, churches and châteaux that are also famed here. Belleville north of Lyon is noted for its parks and the Hôtel-Dieu de Belleville, now a museum and the city library and tourist info office.

Twenty kilometres away, the commune of Villefranche-sur-Saône is about a kilometre and a half from the riverside walks of the Saône, and within about 40 kilometres lies the foodie land of Lyon.
