Local attractions

Discover the beautiful Verdon Gorge, considered to be Europe's Grand Canyon. The canyon has been carved by the Verdon River, leaving the turquoise river now flowing at the base of high limestone cliffs. The most impressive part of the gorges for visitors lies between the towns of Castellane and the Lac de Sainte-Croix south of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. Enjoy the amazing views of the canyon and, if you like adventure, try canoeing, kayaking, and rafting in the river.

Visit the Natural Regional Park of the Verdon, created in 1997 to protect the unique environment, and relax by one of the several lakes along the length of the Gorges du Verdon, the most important being the Lac de Castillon and the Lac de Sainte-Croix at the western end of the gorges, which offers beautiful beaches.

Take a trip to the small village of Aiguines, set within the Verdon Natural Regional Park and therefore a perfect place to discover this scenic region of Provence. Visit its famous seventeenth-century castle and the Church of Saint-Jean and Notre-Dame. Aiguines is also known for its traditional products sold at the local market held on Tuesdays, such as lavender, honey and delicious truffles.
