General

  • Super family-focused site with friendly summer entertainment team
  • Next door to a pony riding centre; tree climbing park nearby
  • Heated outdoor pool, plus separate kids' cinema bar and games room

One may do as little or as much as one fancies here – facilities and surrounds for stays of all sorts are at your disposal, with nature reserves, cracking coastal areas, boat trips and historic sites all a short drive or bike ride away, and lots of family-friendly stuff to do on site too.

Plunge yourself into the heated outdoor pool (or lounge around beside it), splosh around in it with your offspring or participate with the fam and other guests in sports tournaments and various other organised activities throughout the day. There are plenty of paths in the surrounding area for strolls and cycles too, and the surrounds are so spectacular that you may well fancy a road trip out to see even more of the region.

The park’s roomy pitches are level, grassy and pleasantly private – as well as the accommodation area, the rest of the site has been very thoughtfully set up for comfy family stays, where kids can go off and do their own thing in safety while adults find time to get properly relaxed: there’s a good-sized sandy playground with swings, a climbing frame and a slide, all set scenically among green space and trees to enable parents to keep half an eye on their tiddlies while they cosy down and lounge around with a tablet/book/their own wandering thoughts.

Also splendidly, the Bar Cinéma hosts regular kids’ cinema and other entertainment nights and is kitted out with pool tables, games and other fun stuff to keep younger ones occupied so that grownups can converse over in the beaut Bar du Château about important topics like wine and cheese, content in the knowledge that their small people are having a whale of a time with all their new on-hol pals.

Also in high season, the site’s lively entertainment team are on hand to whisk your littlies off for days of frolics, games and tournaments at the kids' club while you focus on sourcing a serene sunbathing spot – or, if you fancy accompanying them, they’ll be able to hop on a pony and hoof it around at the riding centre next door.

When it comes to the on-site foodie facilities, they’re most certainly swish too: during the day, the café serves hot and cold tipples and snackettes of all sorts, and in the evenings the restaurant serves tiptop local dishes; for quick and easy options, the takeaway service is open at lunchtime in the evening, and the well-stocked grocery shop is where you can pick up all the supplies you might need for a self-catered stay. Local supermarkets and a fast food joint are within easy reach too if you fancy a jaunt off site for sustenance.

Free wifi is available in the Bar du Château for digital types and those who like to keep an eye on the workings of the outside world.

It’s worth noting that this site doesn’t accept cash, only payment via a handy prepaid card, which you can top up by credit or debit card at the at any time throughout your stay (when the reception desk is staffed).

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/06 and 24/09 (subject to weather conditions).

The indoor swimming pool is open between 14/04 and 24/09.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No cash is accepted at the site. You can pay by card or get a Domain payment card on arrival.

    - Excellent facilities - pool was brilliant for young children (shallow/ covered and a small slide)
    - A mixture of pitch sizes, which were as private as camping allows.
    - Everything was clean - toilets/ showers were cleaned twice a day and there was always toilet roll!
    - Free wifi

    Disliked:

    - Shop opening times were a bit short - you had to remember to organise yourself for lunch
    - The takeaway snack bar was painfully slow - would have liked to see sandwiches as an option as well as the heavy fried stuff.
    - I think some of the staff were students and attention to detail was correspondingly relaxed at some points - a bit of continuity of information across the board would help.

Generous-sized pitches within easy walk of the pools and campsite hub. The pools themselves were fantastic - watch out for the kick in the backside from the big slide! Good onsite shop, well-stocked and reasonably priced. Free WiFi in the bar and cafe. Relaxed cafe near the playpark.

    Disliked:

Service at the take-away restaurant was glacially slow - so much so that it was causing customers to go to the nearby McDonalds.

Poor showers - very variable temperature (and always on the cold side), dreadful showerheads, very short timers.

Private, hedged, level pitches. Clean showers and toilet facilities but shared so something to get used to if not experienced before. This is a lively, family site so expect noise throughout the day but it was quiet at night. Bar and place to eat very handy. Helpful staff.

Local attractions

Active offspring will be highly entertained among the treetop climbing courses La Parc Salomon, three kilometres from base, and numerous boat trips can be hopped on locally for tours of the Picardy’s canals and rivers. Another highly popular family pursuit off site is a cycle ride around the many cycle paths that network the area around the park – handily, you can hire a bike on site and saddle up for sightseeing adventures atop two wheels.

If you’re of a pastimes persuasion, there’s a whole heap of medieval sites, churches and World War II landmarks and memorials to venture to around here too, such as the the Bay of Somme and the medieval town of Saint Valery sur Somme, two kilometres away, once painted by such famed artists as Degas, Bourdin and Seurat.

As well as the Bay of Somme being an important historic site, it’s also a mecca for nature spotters and birdwatchers, all of whom make the pilgrimage to gaze upon all the wild critters that call the inlet’s expansive dunes and wetlands their home; when you’re done tramping around at leisure, take in the Bay of Somme’s sights in fine style with a trip along the vintage miniature railway that runs up and down the bay. For more animal-themed sightseeing, half an hour’s drive away also lies the natural parkland of Le Parc du Marquenterre, a habitat for lots of other birds and befurred beasties, and thus another hotspot for wildlife watchers.
