  • Heated pool; kids’ club and activities such as tennis and pétanque
Whether your definition of an excellent holiday includes hiking, surfing or lazing around on sandy beaches, you’ll be in the right place at Camping La Baie. Surf and sand seekers will be happy to find that this dog-friendly site is on a small peninsula between two sandy beaches in Morbihan. As for fans of picturesque ports and livelier coastal settings, La Trinité-sur-Mer is 20 minutes’ walk away and Carnac Plage is 10 minutes by car. When you’re craving the beach – and you want it fast - Plage de Kervillen is five minutes’ walk away. Plage de Kerbihan, 10 minutes’ walk, is your option on the other side of the peninsula, and just as peaceful. Dips don’t necessarily have to be salty, though – there’s a heated, partially-covered swimming pool on site, including a waterslide and paddling pool. That’s not the only way for kids to let off steam, though. The team at Camping La Baie organise daily activities including a kids’ club (for kids aged between six and 12). Other facilities include a pétanque court, volleyball court, basketball grounds, ping pong tables and a playground. As a family, you might want to get your game face on for tennis or miniature golf, or video games are available on site (extra charges apply) for a less-active but just as competitive game. The surrounding area doesn’t hold back on spectacular hikes (that includes the GR34, which passes just behind the site), so stay fueled by visiting the site’s restaurant, which is open throughout high season. It’s a splendid setting for sampling seafood platters and tapas while watching the beach below. Shops can be tracked down in La Trinité-sur-Mer too.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Good facilities . Nice pool with flume . Site was spacious and level . Near a lovely swimming beach and within easy walk to la Trinite sur Mer .

Disliked: Toilet block and showers a bit outdated . There was another more modern block at far end of campsite . Our pitch was in full sun and if we had known we would have chosen one with more shade .

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: This site is in a superb location, in between 2 beautiful beaches only 5 minutes walk away in both directions and great for paddle boarding as the sea is warm and calm. It is a short cycle into the picturesque harbour port of La Trinite-sur-Mer with it’s many water front bars and restaurants. We had a comfort pitch which was really large, nice and level, had it’s own water tap and got the sun all day which was amazing! The toilets and showers are plentiful and clean and have toilet paper and soap. There is a manual clothes washing area with a built in wash board for washing small items as well as a laundrette with washing machines for 5 euro tokens. The staff are very friendly. There is a fairly well stocked shop across the road with groceries, delicious croissants, alcohol, postcards and stamps and handily enough there is a post box right outside reception (where I’m pleased to say my postcards safely arrived to their destination!) Really enjoyed our stay here and would come again!

Disliked: Not really dislikes, just more observations: This was the most expensive site we stayed at during our 2 week Brittany stay and there was no free Wifi offered at all. As we were paying quite a lot for our pitch in comparison to other sites I feel that they should have offered at least a little free Wifi. As far as we could see, all the entertainment was geared towards children, at the other sites we stayed at there was at least some entertainment geared towards adults in the evening E.g. live bands/karaoke.

Liked: Clean showers with plenty hot water. Good location near beaches and shop and good restaurant just outside campsite

Disliked: Nothing except this is busy family time of year and loads of kids making quite a bit of noise - but why not!

Local attractions

Those of you with a curious streak will find plenty of footpaths that will help you to explore the coast. No need to take the car – coastal paths start in La Trinité-sur-Mer (20 minutes’ walk) and go all the way to Carnac (10 minutes’ drive). If you continue on, you'll pass megaliths and find your way to the Quiberon Peninsula and its wild coast. Whether you pass by Quiberon (35 minutes) on your coastal hikes or drive there instead, expect long, sandy beaches with big surf (this area is a surfer's haven), characterful boutiques and restaurants serving seafood and Quiberon biscuits. When you feel like a historic town visit instead, options include the walled town of Vannes (35 minutes), where boat trips head out onto the Gulf of Morbihan, and the Port de St Goustan, where there are quayside restaurants and watersports on the estuary. There are events and festivals in La Trinité-sur-Mer throughout the year, including the golf tournament La Semaine du Golfe and the sailing competition Spi Ouest-France.
