General
- On the shores of a lake five kilometres from La Trinité sur Mer
- Heated pool, paddling pool and solarium
- Bouncy castle, kayak hire/lessons and high season snack bar
A lake – but of course.
The swish Brittany and Morbihan site of Camping Le Lac is right on the shores of a splendid saltwater lake, in a conservation area and peaceful setting under 10 minutes' drive from Carnac. Kayak hire, kayak lessons and sailing (under expert instruction) all are available on this spacious and scenic surface – and if you need yet more Brittany waters, the south Breton coast at La Trinité sur Mer is a short drive away too.
On site, a fab heated pool (see pics) and paddling pool for tiddlers overlook the lake; both are set close to the bouncy castle to keep the kids nicely overexcited both in and out of the water. (Frazzled parents, fear not, as you'll be able to keep an eye on your elevating offspring from the deckchairs around the pool area.)
You could also send the smalls off to the busy kids' club in July and August, take them along to the heated indoor play area, or keep a beady eye on their site cycling proceedings from your practised lounging position at the summer evening snack bar. There's fishing from the site as well, and free wifi at reception for those to seek to surf.

Local attractions
Carnac and La Trinité sur Mer are the main two draws around here, after all your days around Camping Le Lac's waters and grounds. As the kids will likely insist, make for the coast first, for spectacular Brittany beaches including the sheltered sands of Kervillen at Trinité sur Mer; boat trips from town around the Gulf of Morbihan, and pottering around La Trinité's harbour on a thorough investigation of the local seafood.
Nearby Carnac is world famed for its prehistoric stones – all 3,000 making up the biggest collection of such rocks on the planet. The Maison des Mégalithe at the site tells the stony tale of Carnac via a film in English or French; guided tours around the stones are available in English in July and August. About 10 minutes' walk from here, delve into the story still deeper with the assistance of the 6,000 exhibits of Carnac's museum of prehistory.
Around the modern Carnac-Plage part of town, check out the yacht club, thalassotherapy centre, five sandy beaches and the famed Saint-Georges and Chez Marie crêperies, or potter back to Trinité sur Mer along the scenic coastal path.
