  • Brittany wildlife haven within walking distance of Quimper
  • Set in a former bishops' palace with orangery and 17th century gardens
  • Golf, tennis, watersports, fishing and parks all nearby

One can't get much more swish on a Brittany holiday than this: 90 acres of parks and gardens in the former summer palace of the Bishops of Quimper.

L'Orangerie de Lanniron is also near the sea and the banks of the River Odet, and is used as a Breton base for those who like historic sites, wildlife watching, watersports and all sorts of other activities (and relaxation): tennis courts, horse riding, cycling and an adventure swimming pool with wellness complex are all nearby.

All is superly swish on site too, with a most scenic orangery, and seventeenth century gardens in the French style that lead down three levels to the river and include exotic trees, château gardens, terraces, ponds, flowers, fruit trees and vegetable plots.

Guests have the use of a tennis court, a nine-hole golf course and driving range, a restaurant and a bar open from mid-May to the beginning of September. A kids' club runs in July and August for les enfants.

Open from 28 March to 15 November
