General

  • In a green park three kilometres from the sea at Blonville-sur-Mer
  • Three kilometres from Accrobranche and four from Deauville
  • Pool, playground and restaurant serving local and international dishes

What a pretty sight… Camping L'Orée de Deauville is on a farm in the Normandy countryside, surrounded by greenery, and handsomely laid out with grass pitches among trees and shrubs.

This scenic setting is niftily placed for days out too, as it's three kilometres from the sea (and windsurfing) of Blonville-sur-Mer, and the same distance from active climbing and tree-swinging days at family park Accrobranche. Its setting on Normandy's Côte Fleurie (or Flower Coast) is near the traditional villages of the Calvados area, three and a half kilometres from Deauville and Trouville. Paris is two hours away.

L'Orée de Deauville is a family-friendly site, with a good range of leisure facilities: there's a heated pool, a pétanque court, a playground, a TV room and a games area, as well as a restaurant serving local and international dishes. Bike hire is available for guests to go off for the day to explore the Normandy coast.

Amenities include toilets and showers, disabled facilities, a washing-up area, a launderette and free wifi. There's no food shop, but lots of local markets are in the area sell regional products and fresh food.

Smallish site o.k for overnight31/08/2020

The caravan was excellent and the pitches on the site are all sectioned off nicely. There seems to be quite a few who own vans here, and so the park pitches are kept in fine order.

    Disliked:

The facilities otherwise, especially those for campers, would not be to my standard; the toilet block does look like its had a recent upgrade, but it is surrounded by the old dilapidated loos, efforts to provide kiddie amusements (a small pool, two trampolines and a bouncy castle) and a boules area and marquee providing limited themed evening soirees for adults suggests the owners are doing their best, but again, these are obviously not the standard of some of the more affluent parks. More bins would have been good, too. It is what it is really, a smallish site with owners trying their best, but a lot to do.

The management was very friendly and welcoming, making it feel like a family run site. Whilst the facilities aren't the most extensive and it's a small site, everything worked perfectly well and the site itself was very pretty and nicely planted and the small size made it feel more like a community. We would definitely recommend!

Just returned home after two weeks in France with family …17/08/2020

Just returned home after two weeks in France with family and have to say we won't return to this site.

Our first week was spent here before we moved to another site (already planned) My husband and I stayed with our son, partner and grandson's 1yr & 13.
We had a motorhome whilst my son and family had a touring caravan. We booked a pitch next to each other.
The receptionist didn't speak English - it's at times like this I wished I had paid more attention during French lessons at school!!
We managed to muddle through booking in and was shown to the 'camping' area but the pitches were far too small for our set up so we were shown to an area of the camp site just off the road which led to the static vans.
Suited our grandson as we were sited right next to the outdoor pool and football area.
The bar/cafe area did'nt have much atmosphere with the bar adjacent to a marqui type shelter with bare tables and chairs - I didn't find the area inviting at all!
The bar area was a stones throw from where we were pitched up and entertainment was on approx 3 times during our stay with the music until 10.30pm.
Bouncy castle, trampolines and table tennis made my grandsons holiday who enjoyed his stay here!
Near to Villiers Sur Mur beach .... lovely sands and shops! Ideal for beach holiday but need car to get out and about as nothing within walking distance and roads not too safe for cycling!
We were in the midst of the current heatwave that had engulfed us all so the pool served its purpose albeit I had to take my sun brolly with me for some welcome shade as no parasols or shade at pool area.
Showers and toilets were unkempt - no toilet paper supplied and with the current situation with Covid19 there was no hand sanitiser or hand wash available.
Not a site for couples or families looking to enjoy a quiet holiday as more suitable for large groups..... as large group of families with about ten mini tents sited one side of us and group of five young lads the other so lots of noise going on into late evening / night!

    Disliked:

the toilets and shabby part of site where we stayed.
Also didn't agree with the emptying of the chemical toilet and fresh water both at the same spot with no separation and same hose being used for both!!!!

Local attractions

Take to the Normandy coast for golden sandy beaches within a few kilometres, or sailing and windsurfing courses at the yacht clubs of Blonville-sur-Mer and Villers-sur-Mer.

From Blonville-sur-Mer, it's four kilometres to Deauville, a swish and scenic seaside town with a beaut beach, speedboating, an aerial course, a casino, golf course and racing track; or five to Trouville-sur-Mer and its grand 19th-century architecture, another fab beach and a famed fish market.

You can also take the train from Blonville to another Normandy seaside town, Dives-sur-Mer, from where William the Conqueror left to subdue England in 1066 (a statue to the vanquisher is in town, along with a medieval marketplace and a 13th-century church).

Closer to home are the horse racing, equestrian centre and polo field at Toques, and more horse racing at Deauville-Clairefontaine Racecourse. A tree climbing circuit is at Accrobranche three kilometres away and another golf course is at Tourgeville.

For a day trip, department capital Caen is about 34 kilometres from Blonville.
