General

  • Set around a seventeenth century converted farmhouse
  • A short drive from the seaside resort and beaches of Bayeux
  • Pick free fruit from the site trees

Manoir de L' Abbaye is a pretty traditional seventeenth century former farmhouse, now converted into a successful holiday business. The park is a short drive from the scenic seaside resort of Bayeux and its beaches. It has easy access to the D-Day landing beaches, numerous museums and châteaux and is a short drive away from many traditional Normandy villages.

The site has five showers and six toilets in the converted farmhouse, only a short walk from the camping field. A shower and a toilet suitable for guests with disabilities is also available, along with a washing-up corner.

Bread and croissants can be bought on site each morning and you can do your main shopping in Bayeux. Guests are welcome to pick fruit from the site trees for free.

Quite, peaceful atmosphere with clean facilities and well maintained and separated pitches.

Slightly surprised at the additional 10 Euro coast for the use of the laundry facilities!!!
Thought I had booked and paid for a stay with electric hook up inclusive, however still had to pay an additional 8 Euro on arrival.

Local village has no shop or bar facilities, so bring what you need for the 1st night unless you have additional transport.

Three fields separated by walls, level pitches, good loos and free hot showers. Lovely Jack Russell in residence that adores chasing sticks.

Abbey bells are loud and chime the hour and half hour all night. Take earplugs. You get used to them after a couple of nights.

The site was idyllic, the welcome warm and the facilities good. We were spoilt for choice were to pitch being able to choose from 3 old orchards. These were large with mature trees offering plenty of shade. A particularly nice touch was the chance to help ourselves to any of the fruit growing. The cherries and raspberries were delicious but visitors at other times of the year would be able to avail themselves of the apples, pears and plums. The showers and toilets were well maintained and always clean. This is definitely a campsite that we will return to.

the most beautiful camp site, with lovely gardens and a superb building. the place has everything i love most about rural France and the owner was so kind, really going out of her way to help us. the village was lovely and it is so close to Bayeux that it was easy to pop in.
if you like old buildings that have been lived in and not curated, the courtyard is wonderful, full of very old timber and surprising detail. i would have loved to explore the house more - maybe we will stay as B&B guests next time so i can be nosy!

    Disliked:

the church bells are wonderful but very loud! still, this is hardly the fault of the campsite and i'm sure that if we had stayed longer i would not have noticed them so much.
