  • Luxury cabins with a private hot tub each on a working farm
  • A 25-minute drive from the Brecon Beacons National Park
  • Units include a kitchen, shower room, beds, a dining area and veranda
Each accommodation at Cwmachau Cabins has a private hot tub. Yep, you read that right. And these bubbly extras aren’t the only reason to book in at this family-friendly glampsite on a working sheep farm 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Brecon. Deep in the Welsh countryside, the luxury units at this park in Powys also have lush views of the Honddu valley and a veranda with a table and chairs to fully appreciate them from. Inside, the cabins sleep two to four, with a double bed and sofa bed, and each has a fitted kitchen kitted out with an oven, hob, microwave and fridge. There’s also a dining area, sofa and a TV for family nights in, as well as a shower room to keep the gang fresh. Head back outside and you’ll stumble across the ultimate in glamping extras: an electric hot tub. Crank the bubbles up and you can bubble in the water at your leisure while watching the sheep grazing on the hills and the river snaking its way down the valley below. There’s plenty more gorgeous scenery to soak up around the farm, so stay close by with a stroll around the grounds or ask your hosts for recommendations on local spots check out – pretty walks taking in views of the Brecon Beacons, the Black Mountains and the Epynt hills are all around the area.

Local attractions

Brecon is 15 minutes’ drive from the park – make a beeline for this town to see the cathedral and have a poke around the old market hall. It’s also just the spot for scavenging some supplies ready for strolls in the Brecon Beacons National Park (25 minutes' drive). Scale the highest peak in the area, Pen Y Fan (40 minutes), or have flatter forays around Llangorse Lake (half an hour). Fishing and boat hire is also available here, plus there’s an activity centre for all sorts of watersports. If subterranean saunters are more your style, head to the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (40 minutes) to totter around the 10.5-mile underground system, then ascend back above ground for meanders around a manmade structure at Tretower Castle (35 minutes). Should your feet need a break, sit down on the Brecon Mountain Railway (45 minutes), running along the southern side of the Beacons and climbing north from the Pant beside the pretty Pontsticill reservoir. For more time out in nature, see the splashing water of Henrhyd Falls (50 minutes) or wander around the Weir Garden, a parcel of land protected by the National Trust.
