  • Family-run with priority on customer service
  • Within half a mile of Caersws village and the Mid Wales Arts Centre
You might be surrounded by mountain views at Maesmawr Farm Resort, but that doesn’t mean an awkwardly angled site, for this Powys park is set on level green countryside for comfy stays wherever you lay your hat. The comfort level extends to all aspects of stays here: the family team here make customer service their top priority; their mission is to ensure everyone who stays here has a relaxing, peaceful time. The immaculately-maintained amenities include a centrally heated and double glazed shower block added in 2016, with washing-up area, large washroom with easy wheelchair ramp access and non-slip floor throughout. Getting here and getting out and about is easy too, as the farm is accessed directly off the A470, between Snowdonia National Park and the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and surrounded by hiking and biking routes including the National Cycle Route 81 and the Severn Way. Golfers only have to stroll a short distance to reach a nine-hole course with floodlit driving range and golf tuition (and if you’re a non-golfer, there’s also a clubhouse and a shop). Newtown is 10 minutes' drive away. Also within easy ambling distance is Caersws village half a mile away, where there are three pubs, a café and local produce shop, two shops, a butcher, a post office, a petrol station and a fish and chip restaurant. Cultural adventures and nights out at the Mid Wales Arts Centre are five minutes’ walk from the farm.

Local attractions

You could park the car up and not drive off site for your whole stay here, given the amount of stuff to do very close by. As well as the local golf course and the performances of the Mid Wales Arts Centre, days out could also include setting out on the mighty Severn Way, or pedalling part of National Cycle Route 81 on its route from Aberystwyth to Wolverhampton. Waterside rambles by the River Severn are a short walk away, as is casting off; fishing permits are available from the local post office and shop. If you do decide to drive, it’s about 45 minutes from the farm to the coast at Aberystwyth, Aberdyfi and Tywyn; other driving destinations include a pony trekking centre five minutes away; the Mid Wales Shooting Centre (10 minutes); paintballing (20 minutes) and driving of a different kind at the Sweet Lamb rallying circuit (25 minutes). For towns, the museums, galleries and exhibitions of Llanidloes and Welshpool are 15 and 30 minutes away; Montgomery is 25 minutes and a most recommended option is Newtown and the events and performances of the Theatre Hafren, under 10 minutes away. The farm is also well placed for competitors in the Caersws Cup Downhill Race, as the track is two miles away.
