General

  • Adults-only site in a secluded hill location
  • Free pitch and putt and book/DVD library
  • Large enclosed dog exercise area

After a bit of peace and quiet? Uncrazy Daisy Bank Touring Park takes adults only, and is tucked far from the madding crowd amidst heavenly hills on the Wales-Shropshire border.

The hardstanding, serviced pitches have free wifi and luxe bathroom facilities, and there’s a shop which sells homemade local tucker, plus a large, enclosed exercise area for Fido.

Relaxation is the name of the game here, so the on-site entertainment is low key: free pitch and putt, and a book and DVD library. Many guests spend their time exploring the seductive scenery surrounding the site, walking along Offa’s Dyke path, Kerry Ridgeway, the Severn Way, or in the Shropshire Hills (Long Mynd and the Stiperstones are both nearby).

Very friendly staff. Lovely views. Good clean modern toilet and shower facilities with wet rooms. Nice to have the pitch and putt course too. Good length dog walk nearby.
If you want to use serviced waste water you will need a very long waste hose as it is located toward front of pitch not the rear where most caravans have the outlet.

    Disliked:

Had to use our waste master as our hose wouldn't reach the waste grid. But no real problem there

We were sited on pitch C9 and had partly restricted views of the fields and hills which were beautiful. This appeared to be one of the more level sites and so very little adjustment was required. It was also our first serviced pitch which was lovely and we could get used to it. The pitches were of a good size and so we did not feel crowded and the dog owners around were very responsible with their dogs on leads and very little noise from their pets.

The shower/toilet block is excellent and easily accessible.

Daisy Bank is in an ideal situation to explore the surrounding sites and to enjoy the amazing countryside and has easy access to the road but very little traffic noise to disturb the peace.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay with you and tried to call in to Reception to thank you as we left but you were busy cleaning the shower block. Many many thanks

    Disliked:

The toilet disposal point could do with some attention. The wooden boards could easily be contaminated and become unhygienic.

The toilet in shower room one in the block near Reception does not flush properly and so unfortunately, sometimes looked pretty horrid. (As a plumber I can say that the syphon needs attention.)

The site is quiet, clean with lovely views. Some touring pitches where in between trees and shaded, others where in the open and views of the surrounding country side. Should I return to the site I would request a pitch in the open area and not shaded. The staff where very friendly and helpful. A lot of the pitches seem to be taken up by seasonal vans so there where a lot of vans pitched up but few people in attendance. If you want a quiet relaxing break then this is an ideal site.

Directions

Please do not try to use satnavs in the last 5 miles of your journey, it will try to take you down lanes that are neither suitable for a caravan nor necessary to go down.

We are located on the A489 between Craven Arms and Churchstoke.

If travelling east on the A489 from either Welshpool or Newtown follow the signs for Craven Arms once in Churchstoke. Pass Harry Tuffins garage and supermarket on your right. Daisy Bank is a further 2 miles on the right-hand side of the road.

If travelling via Shrewsbury, take the A488 sign posted from the A5 to Bishops Castle. It is approximately 30 minutes from the A5. The turning onto the A489 is a very sharp one to your right travelling down hill towards the village of Lydham. Check the map and follow it carefully so as not to miss the turn!

If travelling from Craven Arms, take the A489 and follow all signs to Newtown, we are signposted from Lydham and are approximately 2 miles on the left-hand side.

Other attractions include the red kite feeding centre at Rhyader, National Trust’s Powys Castle and gardens, and the coastal resort of Aberystwyth, a (very scenic) hour’s drive away.
