General

  • Adults-only site in a secluded hill location
  • Free pitch and putt and book/DVD library
  • Large enclosed dog exercise area

After a bit of peace and quiet? Uncrazy Daisy Bank Touring Park takes adults only, and is tucked far from the madding crowd amidst heavenly hills on the Wales-Shropshire border.

The hardstanding, serviced pitches have free wifi and luxe bathroom facilities, and there’s a shop which sells homemade local tucker, plus a large, enclosed exercise area for Fido.

Relaxation is the name of the game here, so the on-site entertainment is low key: free pitch and putt, and a book and DVD library. Many guests spend their time exploring the seductive scenery surrounding the site, walking along Offa’s Dyke path, Kerry Ridgeway, the Severn Way, or in the Shropshire Hills (Long Mynd and the Stiperstones are both nearby).

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Daisy Bank, it is a lovely site, the amenities are plentiful and all kept extremely clean. The site is in beautiful woodlands, with lots of wild life around. The owners, Nicky & Mark, are two very pleasant helpful people who gave us a lovely welcome. The dog walk is awesome, such space for our two dogs to enjoy a good run around. Without doubt, we will be returning next year to this beautiful site. Thank you all for a lovely stay.

    Everything,, oh the peace,,,
picked this site as it was central to where we wanted to visit, oh and an Adults only,(sorry kiddies)
we got a very pleasant reception on arrival, plenty of information, the sheet we were given had everything on it , so useful, thought this was a brilliant idea,we could even pick where we pitched.. Shower area was very clean oh and warm, with the typical British weather were having it was more then welcome.. plenty of hot water, as was the dish washing area, Pitches were nice and big, and even better was the space between each pitch, we have brought a new Kampa pro 390 awning, and the pitch was more then plenty. A useful information kiosk with menus,(for the local pubs) dvd's and books that you could use. Dogs are allowed here, and they where around us, but such a nice change for them not to be allowed to constantly bark, (a bad experience on a site last year). We don't normally use any of the washing facilties but this year we had to, i didn't think the price was bad at all, i washed and dried a load for £3.00. A lovely view to the Shropshire Hills,,we don't do a great deal with the computer/wifi when were away
but never been to a site where we didn't have to pay for it this made a nice change, .we would return here.

    Disliked:

Well i can;t really say disliked,, we couldn't get a tv signal, even though we used one of the owners long polled aerial, but this wasn't a major problem to us, we borrowed some of the dvd's , this wouldn't put us off from going back..

Could only complain about the weather and despite the torrential rain and snow falls the site condition held up really well.

Directions

Please do not try to use satnavs in the last 5 miles of your journey, it will try to take you down lanes that are neither suitable for a caravan nor necessary to go down.

We are located on the A489 between Craven Arms and Churchstoke.

If travelling east on the A489 from either Welshpool or Newtown follow the signs for Craven Arms once in Churchstoke. Pass Harry Tuffins garage and supermarket on your right. Daisy Bank is a further 2 miles on the right-hand side of the road.

If travelling via Shrewsbury, take the A488 sign posted from the A5 to Bishops Castle. It is approximately 30 minutes from the A5. The turning onto the A489 is a very sharp one to your right travelling down hill towards the village of Lydham. Check the map and follow it carefully so as not to miss the turn!

If travelling from Craven Arms, take the A489 and follow all signs to Newtown, we are signposted from Lydham and are approximately 2 miles on the left-hand side.

Local attractions

There are some interesting towns round and about: Bishop’s Castle, three miles from Daisy Bank, boasts two real ale breweries; Ludlow, fast gathering a reputation as a top foodie destination; Montgomery, for castle ruins, cobbles, and old-fashioned shopping; or Telford, where visitors can eye up Ironbridge and check out some of the many museums and tourist activities.

Other attractions include the red kite feeding centre at Rhyader, National Trust’s Powys Castle and gardens, and the coastal resort of Aberystwyth, a (very scenic) hour’s drive away.

Must see

  • Powis Castle & Garden (10.0 miles)
  • Stokesay Castle (10.8 miles)
  • Ludlow Castle (17.1 miles)

National Trust

  • Carding Mill Valley and the Shropshire Hills (8.7 miles)
