  • Adults-only site with serviced pitches in a secluded hill location
  • Free pitch and putt and book/DVD library
  • Large enclosed dog exercise area on site
After a bit of peace and quiet? Daisy Bank Touring Park takes adults only, and is tucked far from the madding crowd amidst heavenly hills on the Wales-Shropshire border. The hardstanding, serviced pitches have free wifi and luxe bathroom facilities, and there’s a shop which sells homemade local tucker, plus a large, enclosed exercise area for Fido. Relaxation is the name of the game here, so the on-site entertainment is low key: have a go at the free pitch and putt, or borrow something from the book and DVD library. Many guests spend their time exploring the seductive scenery surrounding the site, walking along Offa’s Dyke path, Kerry Ridgeway, the Severn Way, or in the Shropshire Hills (Long Mynd and the Stiperstones are both nearby).

Meadow and Kerry fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The dog walking fenced off area was excellent for letting the dog have a good run and burn off some energy.

Disliked: The toilets and showers were clean although they are a little dated.

Camlad fully-serviced hardstanding touring caravan pitch

Liked: Love the panoramic views, the dynamic scenery and the sheer peacefulness of the site. Every member of staff are both friendly and warm, helpful and knowledgeable, even the talented landscapers and ground staff (who obviously have a passion for their career) are friendly. Great facilities, clean, accessible and plentiful (all have separate, complete bathrooms and toilets, and there are additional separate men’s and women’s toilets too. Even the electrical storm on Saturday evening was beautiful to watch across the valley. All in all - we came and we’ve left out caravan there - it’s out forever stay place!

Disliked: WiFi is sporadic at best.

Meadow and Kerry fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely welcome and all staff very friendly . The wet rooms were perfect , nice hot showers too. Pitch size great and welcome pack was useful too . The views were outstanding and south facing. Lovely little villages close by. Montgomery was tiny but worth a visit . We drove to Bala lake in Snowdonia in less than an hour . Another place well worth the visit. The coop shop 3 mins away sells everything from tie wraps to hot tubs , not much it doesn't sell . The £3 a day for electricity is just enough for light use so as long as you don't have the heater on it should last you .

Disliked: With the south facing wonderful views was the full sun all day . Great but no escaping the sun . Unless you are sun worshipers , take a brolly or sun shade .

Camlad fully-serviced hardstanding touring caravan pitch

Liked: We received a warm welcome and tour of the site. The site, pitches and facilities were very clean and well organised. The toilet/shower facilities are organised in individual wet room, with controllable good temperature showers. The pitches allow a good amount of space between tourers. Overall, it had the potential to be an outstanding site.

Disliked: Firstly, the advertised free WiFi was unusable from our pitch, one had to sit directly underneath an access point to gain any usable bandwidth. To be fair, we were offered an opportunity to change pitches after setting up, but all the other positions offered, were not much better. This would not be a such a problem on a site with a good mobile data signal. This area appeared to be a bit of a data deadspot. If you do not rely on data communications, this site would be fine. The most irritating aspect of our visit, clearly out of the control of the site management, was the local farmers inappropriate use of a bird scarer, all night long, gunshots twice an hour. We were unable to get a full nights sleep for the duration of our stay. If I had to endure that for longer, I would be making a call to environmental health. There was a seemingly "suck it up buttercup" attitude from one of the site wardens, which I found a little unhelpful. Having visited at least 4 "Tranquil Site" locations, in the last 5 weeks, this site does not come up to the same standard offered on any of the others.

Route directions

Please do not try to use satnavs in the last five miles of your journey: they will try to take you down lanes that are neither suitable for a caravan nor necessary to go down. The site is on the A489 between Craven Arms and Churchstoke. If travelling east on the A489 from either Welshpool or Newtown follow the signs for Craven Arms once in Churchstoke. Pass Harry Tuffins garage and supermarket on your right. Daisy Bank is a further two miles on the righthand side of the road. If travelling via Shrewsbury, take the A488 sign posted from the A5 to Bishops Castle. It is approximately 30 minutes from the A5. The turning onto the A489 is a very sharp one to your right travelling down hill towards the village of Lydham. Check the map and follow it carefully so as not to miss the turn. If travelling from Craven Arms, take the A489 and follow all signs to Newtown. The site is signposted from Lydham and is approximately two miles on the lefthand side.
