Old Chapel Farm is in a secluded valley 1,000 feet above sea level in mid Wales. We are a working organic farm growing nearly all our own food and living off the land as much as possible.

We have two yurts (Welsh yurt and Black yurt) which are rented out together: the Welsh yurt is set alongside the Black yurt in a sheltered fenced paddock next to a wood. Both yurts have woodburning stoves.

Why not have a candlelit dinner on Merlin's converted bus, equipped with gas cooker and Rayburn? The Rayburn can be used for cooking or heating water for the shower on days when there is not enough sun to provide hot water. There is a fully kitted-out kitchen, wooden tables and chairs inside. At the end of the bus is a compost loo, solar shower and a small washroom. There are flushing toilets in the farm complex for those who don't like the idea of compost ones!

On our farm we have Jersey cows, Soay, Mouflon and Jacob sheep, a variety of poultry, extensive vegetable gardens, woodlands and alternative energy supplies.

Fresh produce is available on request. We make cheese and wines for our own use.

We have a team of volunteers from all over the world.

We run courses in prehistoric arts and traditional crafts like stone carving, flint knapping and basket making.

Come on a camping holiday with a difference here in a yurt at Old Chapel Farm!

Additional terms

We do recommend that you arrive before dark as we live in a remote rural area without lighting.

Woodburning stoves are installed in each yurt and wood is provided free of charge. Please remember the surfaces do get hot and use the tools available to aid you.

Cooking is not allowed in the yurts; however, there are gas rings for your use to boil water and make tea and coffee. There are full cooking facilities provided aboard the bus.

The firepits outside the yurt are available for your use. Fires are to be attended at all times and children supervised around them.

Wood can be collected from our woodland next to the farm. Please ask if you need supplies and we can give you directions.

There are cooking pots over the fires: please leave these clean for the next customers.

Only the tea lights supplied by us in the yurts to be used: if you require more please ask.

Please supervise children around fires, stoves and candles.

All yurts and the bus are no smoking. If smoking outside dispose of cigarette butts in a bin.

Only well-behaved dogs are welcome and must be kept on leads at all times because of the working farm. We have sheep and our own dogs.
