General
- Award-winning static caravan park in a birdwatching haven
- Lots of Elan Valley walks and bike rides in the surrounding area
- Seven miles from Llandrindod Wells
Welsh mountain-bound birdwatchers, walkers, anglers and bikers: settle down in the static caravans and holiday homes of The Pines Caravan Park, run by warmly welcoming Philip and Sally since they moved to the area from West Yorkshire in 2005.
The Pines is near Rhayader and is in a birdwatching haven – if you want to see red kites, come here – and is well placed for active days out walking and cycling around the dams and reservoirs of the Elan Valley, or some serious salmon and trout fishing on the River Wye, River Elan or the lake of Llandrindod Wells seven miles away.
All the caravans and holiday homes at The Pines are fully equipped with all you'll need for self catering, but if you don't fancy cooking, a café is within walking distance. The local shop for the morning paper and grocery essentials is only a few steps away.
The Pines Caravan Park is dog-friendly, but please double check that pets are allowed in your accommodation before booking.

Local attractions
The Elan Valley part of Powys is known for its lovely landscapes and its many scenic walks/rides around its trails and bridleways.
It's also a wildlife and nature haven with many rare plants and with frequent red kite sightings: make sure of seeing them with a visit to the Red Kite Feeding Centre at Rhayader's Gigrin Farm, where hundreds of kites flock to be fed every day.
Canoeing and fishing are both easily available locally on the Elan Valley reservoirs and rivers (the River Wye runs round the back of The Pines Caravan Park). The Elan Valley Visitor Centre has info on fishing the valley dams and wild trout lakes, and can also issue fishing permits.
Also recommended in the area is the town of Llandrindod Wells with the National Cycle Collection of Wales in its National Cycle Museum; an 18-hole golf course; bowling greens and the Albert Hall Theatre. Day trippers can reach Hay-on-Wye within 29 miles, Devil's Bridge in 24 and Aberystwyth in 36.
