  • On-site carp fishery and nearby fishing in the Severn
  • Pub serving food within walking distance

It has its own carp fishery for anglers of all abilities, made up of a 15-feet lake with mirror, common, ghost and koi carp up to 25lbs; river fishing and fly fishing are both available nearby.

Several sports and leisure centres with swimming pools are in in the area too, along with a riding centre and pony trekking, 4x4 drives and kayaking along the Wye. And whatever flavour of hol you go for, you'll likely like a stroll to the Severn Arms within walking distance of the site, which serves real ales, pub grub and takeaway (please note there's a short roadside section on the walk to the pub).

Spring Rock has a toilet and shower block, a separate washing up area and a chemical disposal point.

Please note

A charge of £0.20 applies for the use of shower.

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

Only a limited number of anglers is allowed to fish at any one time. Please use the 'special requests' box to express your interest (unfortunately, requests cannot be guaranteed).

We really enjoyed our stay at spring rock fishery. It was peaceful and tranquil and the host was very friendly and helpful. Was a little disappointed as we thought there was a stream or lake apart from the fishing area. The shower/toilet and wash up area was immaculate. However, We would like to visit again in the near future.
    Thanks for having us stay.

    Disliked:

Thought the pitch was near the river/ stream.
The pub was too far for me to walk although it does state it was a short distance from where we was.
The carp fishing area was fenced off which I understand but there was no sign up saying it was electrified and my dog got a jolt which I thought was wrong with there being no sign up.

From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to give us a review it was a pleasure meeting you and having you both stay with us and will look forward to your return! The local pub is as mentioned in our main description not within everyone's walking ability. Our fence protecting our very valuable fishery stock has signage around it but since your visit we have added more to help our guests. I'm sorry you were disappointed we had no river on site it's not anything we advertise we have anywhere, perhaps maybe in future any site you choose to book in with give them a call first to make sure they have what your looking for and it suits your needs to avoid disappointment, we are always at the end of the phone for anyone with any enquries prior to booking. Thanks again and see you soon!

Lovely clean site pitches nice and large clean showers and toilet block. Would advise the campsite is best as a weekend break as was quite isolated. Lovely walks from the site. Over all nice break

    Disliked:

Disappointed that there was no freezer for freezer blocks. Would have like to walk to he pub but it was over an hours walk to get there as in write up it did say the pub wasn't far away. Had to make sure you had enough 20p for the shower had the old pound coins as the showers don't take the new pound coins. More coat hooks for clothes in shower room and near the sinks.

From the manager...

Many thanks for your review I'm sorry our site did not meet with your requirements. We heavily advertise and pride ourselves on offering a quiet, peaceful, scenic and isolated country side location but yet just seconds off the main road that leads to so many near by attractions, points of interest and a wide variety of activities along with a cafe, shop and garage within a five minutes drive and our local pub that's less than a two minute drive from the site or ten minute walk as six of our other guests did during your stay including a retired couple. Our local pub is .7 of a mile and most certainly not an hours walk under average ability. Our toilet and shower facilities are newly constructed and unfortunately at the time of construction it was not public knowledge of the introduction of a new £1 coin we do now plan to replace them at the end of the year as they are rather costly machines, we do however keep a stock of suitable £1 coins on site we'd have gladly provided you with some. We are awaiting new hooks for our showers as it has been previously brought to our attention unfortunately due to the material of the cubicles it requires a certain type of fixing and installation which is slowing up the instal but will be done. Thanks again for your feed back it's greatly appreciated and enables us to improve our site and facilities to help satisfy more customers!

Owners were very helpful and had lots of local information.
Site was clean and tidy, and very peaceful, shower and toilet block was spotless.
Excellent walks from the site if you have dogs to exercise (or just like walking).
This is a small tranquil site, just what we were looking for, with a nice pub in walking distance.
Would defiantly like to return in the future.
Thanks to both of you, Jenny and Ozzy

We really enjoyed our stay at Spring Rock Fishery and we only left today! It was a perfect site for us as it is peaceful and is in a great location. If you expect to get signal on your phone, you only get GPRS so prepare yourselves. The toilet block has got to be one of the cleanest and nicest ones I have ever used on a campsite. Brilliant showers, worth every penny you pay. The WiFi isn't very powerful but you don't go camping to sit on your phone.

    Disliked:

It would be nice if there were spare bricks left somewhere for portable BBQ's as we were unable to use ours. I think the doors in the showers could have more hooks as there's not much room to place your clothes without getting them wet.

From the manager...

Hi Sam, many thanks for taking the time to leave us a review much appreciated! I'm sorry our wifi did let us down this weekend and have now discovered it was a fault with bt their engineer was on site yesterday and resolved the issue. Underneath all pods are bricks for disposable bbqs I'm sorry I forgot to mention that on your arrival. I will also now be looking at adding extra hooks in the showers as suggested. Many thanks!

We stayed on a hardstanding pitch for the bank holiday weekend. Andy greeted us on arrival and had saved us a pitch of our choice. A very very clean and well maintained site with the best shower and toilet facilities we have ever seen. There is plenty of pitch space and great facilities for fresh water and also waste disposal, both water and toilet. Although we didn't need it there is also a good sink area for washing up.
Overall a lovely site... lovely owners who have a good presence and are very friendly. We can't wait to go back again next week. Many thanks Jen n Phil

Local attractions

After a leisurely time fishing on site, more of the same can be landed at the local pub's section of the Severn; via fly fishing at Rhayader or Llyngwyn, or in the Wye from the nearby town of Builth Wells.

Other active options easily accessed from here are pony trekking and horse riding, 4x4 experiences, Wye Valley kayaking and hikes around the Elan valley. Cyclists should also like the hundreds of bikes and loads of cycling bits at the National Cycle Museum in local town Llandrindod Wells.

If you're up for events, the Royal Welsh Showground at Llanelwedd near Builth Wells hosts events throughout the year including the Royal Welsh Show in July, the Smallholders' Show in May, the Winter Fayre in December, dog and horse shows, and two antique fairs.

You could also have a look at the red kite feeding station at Gigrin Farm, or take to the car for day trips: the Brecon Beacons, Aberystwyth and Hay-on-Wye are all within an hour.
