Tipi or not tipi, that is the question... Just like Hamlet, you’ll find yourself in splendid isolation at this exclusive site in the beautiful Brecon Beacons, where the only neighbours are the sparkling river and its resident heron. Unlike the depressive Dane, however, you’ll soon drop the navel-gazing as you whoop, “Tipi!” and get stuck into your very own slings and arrows adventure...

The authentic tipi at Cwm Banw Tipi Retreat is decorated with hand painted Native American wall hangings and sheepskin rugs, and has a double futon (cosy bedding is provided) and rustic furniture all the way from Wyoming.

Alongside the tent are two hand-crafted wooden huts, housing a private composting loo and a hot spring-fed shower respectively, with eco-friendly toiletries laid on. There’s also a kitchen tent equipped with a cool box, food storage, gas rings and a grill, plus cooking utensils and tableware for up to six people.

Enjoy a romantic candlelit meal inside the tipi, or dine al fresco on the covered stoop deck, before putting your feet up in the hammock or swing seat next to the firepit, and letting the calmness of this amazing place soak in....

Guests can also book themselves in for a bubble in an outdoor hot tub with valley views, which they’ll find at the nearby farmhouse, along with a sauna, and a trained masseuse who also runs yoga and meditation sessions on demand.

Up to three people can fit inside the tipi, but if you’re a larger group, three more can come along with their own tent and camping gear (we suggest a game of bows and arrows to decide who gets the tipi...).

Finally, the owners recommend bringing torches and decent shoes, as access is via a track and down a grassy slope to the tipi in the meadow.
