General

Kite Hill Yurts is set on a hillside in Powys with magnificent views of the Black Mountains and surrounding countryside. Hovering above the Wye Valley, situated on the long distance Wye Valley Walk and adjoining a 5,000-acre moorland it is the perfect getaway for walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and those who enjoy the great outdoors.

Within easy travelling distance of the market towns of Builth Wells, Hay-on-Wye, Llandrindod Wells, Brecon and the Brecon Beacons National Park there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Whichever direction you choose to strike out in you can be assured it will be the scenic route!

Our traditional Mongolian yurts are situated in a hay meadow on our 11-acre smallholding. Each yurt sleeps up to 5 people so is ideal for individuals, couples or small families although we do take 'chilled out' adult groups if both yurts are booked. With log-burners for extra cosiness, comfy beds and each with their own kitchenette, firepit and barbecue, you will soon be settling in, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful mid-Wales countryside.

Sharing our smallholding are alpacas (who were here long before we were!), ducks, bees and three friendly cats. We are working towards self-sufficiency and so far we have converted the farmhouse to wood-fired heating and solar power. We have also begun planting a coppice and an edible forest garden which surround the yurt field and will provide us with fuel and food in the future.

We aim to take a low-impact, sustainable approach where possible and this extends to our yurt site as much as any other part of the smallholding.

We look forward to welcoming you! Kate and Dominic.

Terms and conditions

Please read the park terms and conditions below and the Pitchup.com terms and conditions.

Additional terms

Breakages and damage

If on your arrival you find that any items or fittings, utensils, crockery or cutlery is broken, damaged or missing, please report it to us immediately and we will replace it as soon as possible. We understand that sometimes accidents happen so if you do break or damage anything we ask you to report it immediately, so that we can make arrangements to replace or repair it for the next guests. We will only charge for replacement in exceptional cases as we accept that a degree of wear and tear is to be expected.

General safety

Each yurt and kitchenette is equipped with a combined smoke and carbon monoxide detector and a fire extinguisher. We also provide heat resistant gloves for using the stove and a fire guard is available on request. Only the tea lights and lanterns provided by us are to be used inside the yurt. You may wish to bring extra battery/wind-up lanterns if you like to read at night. It is essential to bring torches to navigate the site at night and to walk to and from your vehicle.

Campfires are to be attended at all times and must be kept small and manageable. In certain circumstances we may request that you refrain from using the camp fires, for example in extremely windy conditions, during severe droughts or when hay has been cut and is drying in the field. Parents and/or guardians are expected to supervise their children at all times.

We take every care to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable holiday, but cannot be held liable for any accidents, injury or consequential loss.

General considerations

Out of respect for other guests and our neighbours we do not permit amplified music at any time, and noise after 11pm must be kept to a minimum, i.e. quiet talking. Anyone who persists in causing a nuisance will be asked to leave immediately and without a refund. As the cabin, which houses the shower room and washing-up facilities, is a shared area we ask you to please clean up after yourself and try to accommodate the usage of others.

Outdoor shoes must not be worn inside the yurt; for this reason we recommend that you bring slippers and easy to kick off footwear.

No-smoking policy

All yurts and facilities are strictly no smoking. Anyone who smokes outside the yurts and facilities is responsible for carefully disposing of their cigarette butts in a bin and not littering the surrounding area.

Litter

We respectfully ask that all litter is disposed of carefully whilst on site and walking on the surrounding moorland and footpaths. Please do not leave rubbish bags outside as foxes may tear the bags and spread the rubbish. We do not allow the use of flying paper lanterns on site or on the adjoining moorland as these have been found be a potential fire risk and a choking risk to farm animals and wildlife.
