Pitches are all in the orchard with plenty of space to find your own privacy or to make camp with friends. There is no vehicular access to the orchard making this a relaxing space for families. As an old orchard there is plenty of wildlife so look out for our frogs, newts and moles (sometmes they can make it a little uneven!).
Log circle and camp fire - great for socialising in the evenings and toasting marshmallows.
The toilets/showers, a washing-up area with some storage cupboards (not a self-catering kitchen), recycling facilities, potable water, drying room & washing machine are located within the hostel.
A cafe (weekends only), restaurant and bar (each evening) are available for snacks, meals, chocolate and hot and cold drinks.
The car park and cycle shed are easily accessible from both the hostel and the orchard.
- Abergavenny, 4th Thursday of each month
- Brecon, 2nd Saturday of each month (except Aug) 9.30 - 2pm
The paths and trails through the forestry of Talybont Reservior offer a range of experiences from family biking to more white knuckle routes. A Bike Shed is available at the site and hire is available from 'Bikes & Hikes' at their bases in Brecon and Talybont.
Coarse or game fishing in river, reservior, lake or canal the area can offer a wide choice. The River Wye can offer coarse fisherman barbel, chub, roach and dace or one of the big predatory Perch and Pike. The River Usk is known for salmon and wild brown trout. Talybont Reservior has brown trout and Llangors Lake offers pike, perch, roach, bream and eels. Permits are available locally for each of these sites.
What could be more invigorating than a hack out across the Beacons or a day following the old drover roads over the hills? Riding is available from Cantref Adventure Farm and Llangorse Riding Centre. Some restrictions apply to age and experience on some routes.
Canoe and kayaking
A sedate paddle into Brecon, exploring the lake at Llangorse or taking on the rivers Usk and Wye? Either bring your own, hire at the lake or visit Wye Valley Canoes for hire on the Wye and pick-up from Hay or Whitney.
Straight from your tent, up onto the ridges which lead to Pen-y-Fan, through the forest trails and waterfalls or across high limestone plateaus.

From the manager...
During August there was a very large thunder storm in the area which took out our credit card machine and broadband line, it took a week to get everything back up and running. We apologise for the inconvenience this caused our guests.

Take the lane from Talybont-on-Usk towards the reservior (opposite the post office). This will take you over the canal. Follow the lane for about 1.5 miles, through the village of Aber and on past the turn off for the water works, about 300m past this you reach the reservoir and the dam wall. Turn left here and go along the top of the dam wall - we are the first turning on the left on the far side (over the cattle grid), the lane from this point is single-track and uneven for the first 200 metres then descends into our car park.
From either Brecon or Abergavenny take the X43 and alight in Talybont. You can then either walk by the lane (directions above) or take the Taff Trail (foot path and cycle/MTB trail) from behind the White Hart Inn. Both routes take about 40 mins and are about two miles. Buses run two-hourly Monday - Saturday but stop at around 5pm. From May to September the Beacons Bus runs on Sundays and on bank holidays.
Our closest train station is Abergavenny (20 miles). You can continue your journey to us by bus from here.
National Express to Brecon then to Talybont by bus.

You can now make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children on Pitchup.com.
Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
Use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together when booking multiple pitches: the campsite or park will try to grant your request.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.
