- Pick-up fallen branchs for firewood and cook on the campfire
Get closer to nature in Coed Tyle Crwn, a beautiful site set in 70 acres field of mixed woodland. Experience rustic camping and try out your bushcraft skills in the beautiful and secluded woodland clearings, where real campfires are encouraged. The campsite is open all year round and is situated 5 miles from Brecon and 11 miles from Hay-on-Wye.
The site owners have created simple, level clearings in the camping area of the woodland and the grass is kept mowed by the Shetland ponies. The camping field is on a slope but several various sized flat spots allow for level tents. If you want it even wilder or you would like to camp elsewhere, you can take your machete and head into the forest.
Firewood is free to collect from fallen timber. There is a large communal firepit to the side of the clearings for group bookings and a composting toilet for guests to use. The campsite also supply spring water from the woods for washing and cooking (you ought to boil it before drinking though, ideal for tea and coffee). You can buy free range woodland hens eggs on site.
The car park is just 300 metres away from the clearing but the owners have a fleet of wheelbarrows to help move your gear.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.

On the A470 between Brecon and Felin-Fach, take the Tredomen turning heading East. From Brecon, it's the middle of the 3 right turns at the top of a long hill. From Felin-Fach it's the next left turn: after the pink house turn left, at the top of the hill.
Drive 880 yards to a crossroads and turn left. Drive a further 580 yards to find a gate on the left with the site signpost. Look for the line of big oak trees going across the field. (Please ignore any sat-nav telling you to carry on further up a steep hill.)
Drive along the stone track across the sheep field to the second gate then park to the left or right. Please make sure you do not let the ponies into the field as you come in.
