Campsites in Powys

99 bookable campsites in Powys Sorted by our favourites

We were torn for a teeny second between birds and castles for a summary of camping in Powys. And then between mountains, valley walks, big deep caves and rambles around the Brecon Beacons. But then we realised we can do All the Things – take that, bosses; we’ll be back in a week or two. *skips*

For the birds, we’ll skip to the Brecon Beacons and the Lake Vyrnwy RSPB reserve to spy dippers, woodpeckers, kingfishers and red kites: Powys has the biggest population of red kites in Britain and a red kite feeding centre at Rhayader. Castles: to red-stoned Powis Castle, one of over two dozen castles in Powys; and for caves, we’ll get underground at Dan-yr-Ogof and the longest show cave in Britain (if you’re going, and you should, look out for the coloured dinosaurs…).

And the mountains and valley walks and rambles: the Brecon Beacons National Park, obvs. And the Black Mountains, Offa’s Dyke Path, the Severn Way and the Wye Valley… Pick a Powys campsite for the whole heap: walking trails and maps are on all our listings along with details of local pubs for wholesomely local pints.
