Quarry Park Camping: Field around Quarry Park

General

  • Family-run Pembrokeshire site with views over the Preseli Hills
  • A 15-minute drive from Haverfordwest; 30 minutes from St Davids
  • Private barbecue area for each pitch with firepit and furniture

If a small-scale, peaceful site deep in the Pembrokeshire countryside wouldn't go amiss, then set your sights on Quarry Park Camping near Haverfordwest. Alongside the well-kept (and very spacious) main pitching field, there's a small woodland here for strolls around the site. Many more top walks can easily be reached on foot – or, if you're after hikes along the Wales Coast Path or up in the Preseli Hills, after a short drive.

Make tracks here if you fancy cooking and eating in the open air – each pitch has a private firepit with barbecue grill and outdoor furniture, with wood, kindling and charcoal handily all available to buy on site. For an extra kick of flavour, feel free to drop by the community herb garden and help yourself. Got leftovers? Fridge-freezers are available for shared use.

This site may have a low-key, back to basics vibe, but it's also home to great facilities like free wifi (at reception), a laundry area and – on the off chance you need protection from the elements – a nifty covered area. There's also a small shop at reception where you can stock up on holiday basics, including free-range eggs and local honey. For more food shops and restaurant options, head 10 minutes down the road to Narbeth.

Dogs are welcome to stay here, but please keep them on their best behaviour at all times.

Please note

All onsite food and drink establishments are closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

Units longer than 10 metres are not allowed.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Truly a stunning location. The pitches at this site are cut into a meadow of wild flowers which has created a private and peaceful pitch with beautiful picturesque views and the welcomed sound of wildlife. Our pitch also included a picnic bench and fire pit.

Communal areas were clean and well thought out, we had access to recycling facilities, Fridge/freezer, USB charging facilities, Dinning tables/seating and plenty of space for washing cookware.

The toilet block was clean and offered an en suite style combined toilet and shower rooms. Showers were hot and had good water pressure.

    Friendly and welcoming staff.

Great location, the site is located only 30 minutes from the Skomer Island ferry port.

Looking forward to another visit in the future.

This was our first time camping and Matt made it incredibly easy for us to have a great time!

The pitches were clearly marked out, with plenty of space (including a fire pit) and the areas between the pitches were great for the kids to play all together until late.

Matt was welcoming, friendly and helpful - giving us a tour on arrival including the woods where the kids can play and even gave us some milk so we didn't have to go to the shops immediately having arrived late after a long drive.

Facilities were perfect, showers and toilets clean and always with hot water. The communal fridges and washing-up facilities were really useful and we enjoyed making our own fires and chopping our own wood.

The campsite was small (only eight pitches) and seemed to attract lots of other young families which meant the kids made friends quickly and this made the whole experience much more enjoyable for everyone!

Perfect location from which to explore all that Pembrokshire had to offer, would absolutely return again!

    Small, quiet campsite.
Facilities were spotless and we never had to wait to use them.
Friendly owner - nothing was too much trouble.
Location was excellent to explore Pembrokeshire.
    Friendly atmosphere.
On-site shop with local meat for sale.
    Attention to detail was spot-on.
The pitches were far enough apart to offer privacy without feeling cut off from other families.
Our children felt safe to roam the site, allowing us to relax by the tent.

We really liked staying here. We've both camped before separately when we were younger but never together and obviously not since having children, so we just booked 3 nights as a trial run and it was absolutely great. It was just what we were looking for really - the site is small and well laid-out and looked after, it felt very safe to let the children play and roam around a bit and for our 7yo to be able to go to the bathroom on his own etc. We deliberately booked somewhere that *didn't* have a playground or entertainment for kids as we all find that a bit overwhelming, but the kids were not short of things to do here - they made friends, found birds' nests, played Frisbee and cricket and spent a lot of time just rolling round in the grass. The washing up area, showers and toilets were all kept clean, and the showers were nice and roomy which made it easier to shower with the kids. (I could have done with a couple more hooks on the shower door to hang stuff on but that wasn't a big problem.) The kids and my partner were pleased that they could buy bacon on site when they revolted and refused cereal for breakfast, and they were delighted to be able to have a campfire and cook on it and toast marshmallows on it. Actually the fire pit was a bit of a godsend as we ended up cooking more on that than on our terrible stove. Oldest child has immediately asked when we can go back as soon as we got home.

    The site was incredible!
It’s had such a friendly atmosphere and the facilities were so well kept and the reception even sold local produce!
We stayed in the bramble yurt which was perfect, we had everything we could possible need and anything else we required we asked our wonderful hosts for and they sorted it for us.
On arrival we even received a welcome hamper which was such a lovely touch!
The site is a short drive from most places so we’re we’re able to see so much of Pembrokeshire during our stay

I would highly recommend this site to anyone who is thinking of booking, you will not be disappointed. I am 100% returning again!

Just enjoyed a fab bank holiday here. Matt has created an amazing space, with all the small details to make the ideal camping experience. He's a very hospitable guy who is busily working around the site: never intrusive but available whenever needed. And he was very engaging when the kids wanted a good chat with him. Loved the cut out pitches, each with their own picnic bench and camp fire, which really give you the space you want when camping. Kids loved the large grass area for playing with their new friends and spent lots of time in the covered barn area playing games and writing on the chalk boards. This was a great addition when the weather was a bit drizzly too. Toilets/showers/washing up area all spotlessly clean. We will definitely return. In the words of my 7 year old "Quarry Park is amazing".
