  • Quiet family-run site in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • A 20-min walk from Pembrokeshire Coast Path and award-winning beaches
  • A 25-minute drive from Oakwood Theme Park and Folly Farm
Peace and quiet, a break from the car, and countryside rife for exploration… sound like everything you could ask for? Get the answers you want at Wynd Hill Hideaway, a small family-run site within 10 acres of private land in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, 10 minutes’ drive from Tenby. Wynd Hill is a top spot for exploring Pembrokeshire without a car: those with a yen for rambling will be well served as the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is roughly 20 minutes’ walk away across fields and along quiet roads, and those in need of a sandy getaway can make their way to Skrinkle Haven beach, just a short distance further along the coastal path. For something less pastoral – and requiring a little less effort – hail one of the regular buses that stop outside the gates and take a trip to Tenby, Pembroke or somewhere further afield. Build up your energy for the day with some eggs laid by the on-site chickens, then, when it’s time to reward yourself for a busy day, pile some coals on the barbecue and fire it up: you can grab some grub and other supplies in the nearby village of Manorbier, a 20-minute walk away.

Route directions

From Tenby, follow the A4139 coast road through Penally and Lydstep. On leaving Lydstep, you will see a left turn to Manorbier – ignore this turn and stay on the road for roughly another quarter of a mile. Wynd Hill Hideaway is the first left, so please look for the sign (sat navs will usually take you to Middle Hill campsite instead, as this is central to the postcode). Please do not follow satnav-recommended shortest routes, as these are not suitable for caravans or other large vehicles. On reaching Tenby, reset your satnav for SA70 7SL, via Penally and Lydstep.

Local attractions

You don’t have to go far to begin exploring Pembrokeshire – start in Manorbier village, five minutes’ drive from Wynd Hill Hideaway, with a wander around Manorbier Castle and gardens and a trip to the award-winning beach the castle overlooks. Manorbier beach is one of Pembrokeshire’s top surfing spots, but do be careful of the strong current. If Manorbier has whet your appetite for watersports, head over to Stackpole Quay, 20 minutes from Wynd Hill, for some kayaking and coasteering or simply dive into the water at one of the many nearby beaches for a swim. Want another taste of history? Explore Pembroke and Carew castles, both within 20 minutes of the site, or venture a little further with a trip to Cilgerran Castle, an hour away. For some more recent history, make your way to the Tudor Merchant’s House in Tenby, 15 minutes’ drive from the site. At this point, the kids might be tiring of getting dragged between historical sites, but never fear – there’s plenty within easy reach to keep the whole family entertained: meet the animals at Manor Wildlife Park, let your adrenaline spike on the rides at Oakwood Theme Park, or get a bit of both at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, all within 25 minutes of Wynd Hill.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The small site, and the peaceful location. Level pitches and go where you like. Electric cables (very long) were provided.

Disliked: There is only one small toilet and shower for each gender… it was ok but a bit cramped.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Small site with spacious pitches. Met with friendly owner on arrival who is available if any problems arise. Grass strimmed short. Good arrival/departure times. Clean toilet and shower, hot water at clean washing up area which was a great bonus. Electric on all pitches. Lovely views of coastline, short walk to Manorbier and beach. Will definitely return here.

Disliked: Would be great if site allowed small camp fires.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Great little site. Lovely location with great views. All very nice and tidy. Pubs and shops within walking distance. Only there for one night but it was very pleasant. Good communication from owners.

Disliked: Shower could have been slightly better pressure wise, but facilities were clean.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Amazing little site ! Perfect ! Just the sort of campsite we like to find and stay at. Not many pitches, but a lovely secret little hideaway. Nice and quiet with lovely views and a chilled out atmosphere. Highly recommended this site !

Disliked: Only one shower and toilet per gender. But not an issue due the size of the site, only downside.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Lovely small and quiet site with beautiful views. There is an adjoining meadow which is enclosed and perfect for exercising the dogs. Toilet and showers basic, only one each for male and female, however this is adequate for the size of the site and they are kept very clean. Perfect location for exploring the beaches in the area. We loved our stay here 😊

Disliked: Nothing!
