Seriously good sunsets, serene countryside and a relaxed, friendly vibe... Talywerydd Touring and Camping Park is perfect if you’re looking to escape the mayhem of modern life with a return to simple pleasures. With spectacular views over the Ceredigion coastline, the site offers good essential amenities in a peaceful setting. There are no large or single-sex groups here, and guests will find the pace is nicely slow, although there are plenty of options to liven things up in the surrounding area. The perimeter pitches mean that the site feels spacious even in busier times; the team also opens a large family field in summer for families with younger kids, where there's plenty of open space for children to play safely within range of parents' sight. (Couples and older families are sited on the front field.) Talywerydd is a peaceful and non-commercial site with no clubhouse and no on-site entertainment. Quiet time is from 10pm until 7am. Dogs are welcome too (up to two per pitch, no dangerous breeds); there’s a dedicated dog exercise area, but elsewhere on site they’ll need to stay on the leash.

Local attractions

Gentle - and genteel - pastimes abound. The Ceredigion Coastal Path has great walking; there are great beaches on your doorstep, including the Penbryn National Trust Beach two miles away, Llangrannog, Tresaith, Aberporth and New Quay; plus trout and coarse fishing lakes and golf courses nearby. The horticulturally-inclined will find no shortage of gardens to visit in the immediate vicinity, as well as the National Botanical Gardens of Wales under an hour away, and there are several museums, focusing on subjects as diverse as wool, toys and combustion engines. Or you could try out life as a Celt in one of the replica roundhouses at the Iron Age fort museum in Castell Henllys. Nearby Cardigan has a coastal farm park inhabited by local porpoises, seals and dolphins as well as (less local) prairie dogs, wallabies and Vietnamese pigs. There’s another wildlife centre in a beautiful river setting in Cilgerran, or if you’re feeling flighty, try the butterfly and rainforest centre at Felinwynt, or the Honey Farm in New Quay, where there are exhibitions exposing the insides of working hives, and a meadery offering plenty of samples. Livewires can try their hand at a wide range of action sports, including surfing, canoeing, paintballing, scuba diving and even skiing (on the nearby dry slope). For pubs, shops and other services, Cardigan and Newcastle Emlyn are both less than eight miles away.
