General

  • Family run for over 40 years
  • Less than two miles from beaches
  • Heated indoor pool, paddling pool and clubhouse

Want to pitch up in splendid New Quay on the Ceredigion coast, former home of Dylan Thomas and 20 minutes’ drive from rubbernecking at the bottlenose dolphins of Cardigan Bay? Pitch up at Pencnwc Holiday Park.

It’s less than two miles from New Quay’s beaches, five miles from the sands at Ceredigion and has been family-run for over 40 years so knows what’s what in making sure it has a stonking amount to do on site for pitchuppers of all sizes and inclinations.

After your warm Welsh welcome at reception, let the small sorts roam: they can take their pick from two on-site play areas, an amusingly big amusement arcade, splashing around in the heated indoor pool with adjacent paddling pool, or getting crafty making art, jewellery, sport and games at the free kids’ club. The entertainment runs into the evening in Merlyn’s Den, one of the two bars in the clubhouse, and is suitable for all sizes.

Seeking a slightly more sedate or grownup time? Hide yourself away in Pencnwc’s second pub Smugglers Bar for a coffee, newspaper or catching up with what’s happening in the world of sport on the bar’s numerous tellies; fish and chips, pies and other seaside snacks available from the Smugglers takeaway can be taken into the entertainment bar and the Smugglers bar serves sit-down meals. Or take munchies to the on-site fishing lake, where acres of space abound for quiet contemplation and no-one nicking your chips.

Small sorts probably won’t be too fussed about the onsite facilities, but grownups should be chuffed with the amenities on offer including loo and shower blocks with free hot water, a modern launderette and a washing-up area all kept in sparkingly good order among the flowers, shrubbery and well-maintained grounds.

There’s no food shop on site, but you’ll find two at the nearby village of Cross Inn, a few minutes’ walk from the site entrance.

Please note

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Camping: access to the swimming pool is not included in the rate and is charged £0.50 per person per session.

The site does not allow dogs over any bank holiday weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The excluded dates are 28/04/17 - 30/04/17 and 26/05/17 - 28/05/17 and 25/08/17 - 27/08/17.

    Lovely well maintained site,
Toilet and shower facilities very clean.
    Staff are friendly and helpful.
free bus service to take you to the sea front
    swimming pool

    Disliked:

I recommend booking hard standing as the grass pitches were water logged, I had to buy a tarp and 3 rolls of bin bags to stop the muddy water coming up through the ground sheet and after a few days of dry weather it was still waterlogged and started to smell which was a shame as we like to make use of the awning but couldn't.
Emptying your waist can be difficult if you're not strong as you have to lift it onto a table to empty,
water points are very slow running

The park catered for all ages. All the facilities were top class. Great little swimming pool and token 50p cost was great value. The parks kept our two children occupied for ages. The staff from the reception to Merlins bar were just great. Couldn't have asked for more.

Trying to think...... Oh, the children liked having an indoor pool.

    Disliked:

The mud. Filthy showers. The mud. The fact that staff continued to send caravans to the grass pitches even though it was water logged and cars getting stuck and kids on bikes churning it up. The mud. Came home 2 days early as staff didn't seem to care about the grass ( sorry mud) pitches in atrocious conditions, was offered am alternative but wouldn't of been any better off to be fair. Oh, did I mention the mud?

Couldn't get in club house for kids 4 5 nights disappointing for kids. Laudry dryers 50 for 10 minutes be so much easier with tokens for set time like 20mins as you had to wait by machine all the time no WiFi ex club house and that was on and off not a lot apart from slot machines for 11 year olds but nice site otherwise.

the park was immaculate even though the weather was not good, the site was well maintained, the staff very pleasant and extremely helpful. The pitches were clearly defined and marked out, no confusion as to who has what pitch. The toilet faciliities were excellent. The minibus provided to take to you New Quay was a pleasant surprise.
