Level , well shielded field . Cheap. Dog walking field ... 28/08/2017

Level , well shielded field . Cheap. Dog walking field is an excellent idea and was well used. Electric hookups galore. Even though it was aug bank holiday weekend it was quiet after 10pm. Easy to find (despite comments to the contrary). Clean campsite , Linda was very welcoming. Regulars were very friendly.

    Disliked:

WiFi so poor as not to be worth having, worked for about 20minutes all weekend. I'm an IT engineer and one of the transmitters was down in the touring field, the second above the toilets was faulty which was a shame. Even though I had read all reviews prior to coming and knew this site didn't have any views (of anything) I think it's poor form to con some people into thinking this is on the coast from the pictures on the website. It didn't bother me as I did my homework, but I think it's a bit underhanded in all honesty. Site would benefit from a dish washing area. Clearly marked pitches would have been nice, but I'm nit picking now.

From the manager...

Thank you we have asked the engineer to repair confirm the wifi and he has the following report and repair
The engineer for the Wifi confirmed 3 transmitters one on the house building high level (called Brynarian1) another on the toilet block (brynarian2) and another in the field mounted on a pole (this one doesn’t work at all, the aerial looks physically damaged The other 2 work fine so it’s probably speed that’s the major issue there I only had 3meg so if there are a lot of people there it would be intermittent for them.

Fibre is due there before the end of the year so this would make a huge difference, once fibre is installed and i have replaced the broken transmitter.

Beaches - the photographs are taken from the air and show the beaches accessible locally and on our sister parks - they are not misleading - the views inside the touring fields are of the green fields mountains wildlife and sea in the distance.

  • Liked:

    The usual relaxing environment.

    Disliked:

On this occasion the weather was very poor and wet, which of course can't be controlled, however this left the grass entrance to the touring field (where the tarmark section ends) very muddy. We found ourselves trying to walk and drive around the outer areas/perimeter of the field to avoid the muddy area. Some campers actually got stuck in the mud whilst towing their caravans, which became quite stressful for them and created unessasary mess. Perhaps consideration could be given to this area in the future and perhaps laying some chippings or some other material to avoid the muddyness next time would help. Also the site is advertised as having wifi. This was unavailable for the duration of our stay. Either get this fixed or change the information advertised.

From the manager...

We are sorry we have had such a very wet week in August. The intense rain was unstoppable. There is no way of preventing a muddy field when we want the experience to be on grass in the country. We are so excited that BT are bringing fiber broadband to the area within the next 3 months and this will enable our wifi system to deliver such an improved experience.

The pitches are boggy if the weather is bad and if pitched at the bottom end of the field it's a trek to the water and bins. Nothing for the kids to do on sight.

There are 2 fields on site for playing games We only have one small pool room on site.

Local attractions

Nearby is the Georgian-styled village of Aberaeron, as well as Llandysul and Newcastle Emlyn, both attractive market towns. Llanybydder has an important horse fair and Cenarth is visited for its waterfalls and ancient coracle boats made of wickerwork and skins.

The market town of Cardigan and the University town of Aberystwyth are both 20 miles away. Close by there are also the remains of the castle which was the place of the first National Eisteddfod in 1176.

Cardigan has a considerable variety of shops among its lanes and courtyards; Aberystwyth, on the other hand has a more cosmopolitan atmosphere and it houses the National Library of Wales.

Some of the last steam locomotives will take you along narrow-gauge track to the beautiful Devil’s Bridge, one of Wales’ wonders. It also has a long cliff railway, climbing up to the camera obscura, giving you an excellent view of Cardigan Bay.

New Quay has all the charm of a traditional fishing village, with cottages tucked together on the streets leading down to the beach. The harbour wall curves into the sea, forming a safe haven for the small fleet of fishing boats. It also ensures safe bathing on the sandy beach which is surrounded by the cliffs above. The village is an artist’s paradise and paintings can be bought from the shops as a permanent reminder of your holiday. Fishing trips sail daily into Cardigan Bay and dolphin spotting is popular here too.
