  • Next to Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park: free entry for site guests
  • On a scenic headland with sea views, 10 minutes' drive from Mwnt beach
  • Adventure playground, visitor centre, café and animals to meet
If you'd like to go nature spotting in Wales, consider Cardigan Bay and the nature reserve Cardigan Island. And if you'd like to stay in the Cardigan Island vicinity, go to Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, a site adjacent to the popular and family-run farm park of the same name, set on a scenic headland with views of Cardigan Island and the dolphins below. Cardigan Island, 200 yards offshore and visible from the site, has thousands of nesting seabirds to see, a flock of wild Soay sheep (originally from the Scottish Isle of Soay, south of Skye) and a colony of grey Atlantic seals breeding in the many caves below the farm park cliffs (you should be able to see them every day of your stay – a real treat for the kids). The bay's bottlenose dolphins also frequent these waters, particularly on calm days when they swim closer to the shore and can be seen from the farm park. On site, there's a variety of friendly animals to meet including pigs, sheep, goats, rare-breed cattle, ponies, chickens, rabbits, ducks, geese and a donkey, and a llama, emu and wallaby representing non-natives. There's also an adventure playground and sandpit for the kids, and a large visitor centre (open daily from 10am to 6pm) with a café, gift shop and plenty of play equipment. The campsite part of the park is on a gentle slope with spectacular views over the farm park and out to sea, and has showers, toilets and dishwashing facilities on site. Other toilets and a baby changing area are in the visitor centre when it's open. And yet another cracking thing about staying at this Cardigan Island campsite? Entrance to the farm park is free for guests.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The peacefulness and beautiful location. Has facilities for camping with an electric hook-up along with a toilet/shower block and a washing-up area.

Disliked: The site is not secure, especially when was the only camper on site. Limited mobile/data signal (obviously not the campsite's fault).

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Clean, tidy site. The staff were amazing and working all hours to keep the site well maintained. Loved that we could access the playground after hours - my kids adored playing in the sandpit as the sun went down. Quiet, family friendly site. No loud noises overnight and well away from the main road so no road noise either. Sea views were spectacular! Also adored seeing seals from the park's clifftop walk. The freezer in the dishwashing hut was a super touch - great to be able to keep our ice packs frozen and chilled goods cold. Also loved that the dishwashing hut had draining boards - such a small thing but invaluable.

Disliked: Nothing - this place is brilliant and we will definitely be back.

Liked: Absolutely loved our stay here and didn’t want to leave! The site was lovely and clean, the views were absolutely amazing, the owners and staff were lovely. The farm is very well maintained, the cafe was great. We managed to see the seals which was amazing. We didn’t realise it was a dark sky area which was an added the bonus! We saw the Starlink twice, shooting stars, planets and the Milky Way! Would definitely recommend this site it was perfect and very reasonably priced.

Disliked: The showers could do with upgrading but it definitely wouldn’t stop us coming again.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful campsite and farm park. Wonderful location giving the best views and sunsets. Plenty to keep young children entertained. Campsite always well maintained by the most helpful staff. Owners present through our stay and couldn’t do enough for us

Disliked: The only slight dislike we encountered was the speed of service in the cafe. We did stay during summer holidays which may have been why but being served in the cafe took a very long time. Perhaps having one queue for taking orders and then an area for collecting hot drinks would solve this issue.

Liked: We had the best time at Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, our children loved the access to the park in their pyjamas and seeing all the animals. I enjoyed my hot chocolate while watching the kids play and the beautiful walk down to the coast. We can’t wait to return, we would highly recommend visiting! The Cowies
