General

  • Roomy site half a mile from the town of Cardigan
  • Spectacular views over Cardigan Bay and the Preseli mountains
  • Bus stop right outside the park entrance

Get close to Cardigan with a visit to this pretty site: Cardigan Caravan & Camping Site is the only campsite in the area within easy walking distance of the town - and guests will be greeted by the resident ducks, hens, Welsh cobs and Arab horses as well as a rather stately-looking white peacock.

Surrounded by mature hedgerows and oak trees, this roomy, well-equipped site at Aelybryn Farm is best suited to more mature guest looking for a quiet getaway. Make yourself at home and enjoy top-notch views (and spectacular sunsets) over Cardigan Bay and the Preseli mountains.

There'll be no worrying about navigating down small country lanes here as this site is directly off the main road and there isn't a caravan site closer to the town of Cardigan (which is within walking distance of the park). Want to leave the car or camper on site for the day? No problem: for getting out and about, guests can catch a bus from right outside the park entrance.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Please be aware this site does not have any facilities for children or teenagers: it is a quiet site more suitable for mature couples.

Toilet block. Cleaned daily and whilst there were few people on the site, two loos and two showers more than adequate. Nice hot showers.
Sink (outside) useful for washing up. In an ideal world, given lovely hot weather, somewhere to freeze our Cool blocks would have been good, but proximity of supermarket helped.

    Disliked:

Upon arrival notice said to call owner's mobile but there was no reply. Nice lady eventually arrived half way through our stay by which time we had chosen our spot to put tent.

The peace and quiete was lovely even though it is quite near a main road. The views over the surrounding countryside was also very nice. Would certainly use the site again as a stop over. Really enjoyed looking around the town and castle.

    Disliked:

Almost sailed past as the sign is not evident(it could be bigger?) unless you are coming from opposite direction. There is no bus stop outside property as mentioned, we found nearest bus stop was a walk towards town and its opposite the B&M store just off the main road. To get into town we had to cross a very busy main road with fast moving traffic outside the site as there is no footpath on the sites side.

From the manager...

There is definitely a bus stop at the entrance to the campsite, there is no bus shelter that is all.

The campsite is off the A487 which has a 40 mile an hour speed limit either side of the campsite entrance.

New bigger signage is on the way.

A very clean well attended site and very good value ... 10/05/2017

A very clean well attended site and very good value with electric hook up. Shower block very clean with a great shower. The plots are quite large with good hardstanding for campervan. Enough room on plot for small two person tent. Cardigan has a lot to see but a must is the award winning castle. Long but manageable walk to centre of town.

    Disliked:

A slight problem if busy is the washing up area which only has one sink and no covered area. This can be overcome if you get your washing up timing right and it is a small site so less risk of a problem.

Directions

Take the A487 north from Cardigan, the site is half a mile outside the town on your right, opposite Caemorgan Road. The site is signposted Cardigan Caravan and Camping at Aelybryn.

Local attractions

The ancient market town of Cardigan is only half a mile from the park (the bus in stops right outside the entrance) and offers good shopping, drinking and eating, as well as a cinema, theatre and swimming pool. It’s a place with a fascinating history, too: check out Cardigan Castle, St Dogmael's Abbey, and the beautiful Guildhall building, which now houses the town’s market.

Beach lovers, rejoice: a 10-minute drive will take you to the sands of Mwnt and Aberport, and a few minutes further away you’ll find masses more of the golden stuff at Poppit, Tresaith, Newport and Penbryn (all these can also be reached by bus, but obviously it takes a bit longer).

In addition to the thousands of rare sea birds to be found on this stretch of coast, animal fans can spot Atlantic grey seals and bottle-nosed dolphins in Cardigan Bay, visit the Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, or flit amongst the butterflies at the Felinwynt Rainforest Centre.

The equestrian-inclined will enjoy horsing around at Cardigan's Barley Saturday (end of April), the Agricultural Show (July), and nearby Aberaeron’s Festival of Welsh Ponies and Cobs (August). Autumn visitors can see the dramatic spectacle of salmon and sea trout leaping up the cascading waterfalls at Cenarth Falls.

Athletic types will find a good range of golf courses, horse riding, river and sea fishing on hand, as well as kayaking and canoeing in the picturesque Cilgerran Gorge.

For adventure seekers, this area is renowned for coasteering (high impact climbing, scrambling, canyoning, swimming, jumping and diving along the rocky coastline). Alternatively, the Ceredigion coastal path offers a more relaxed meander past tranquil coves and breathtaking beaches, plus further wildlife and birdwatching opportunities.

Families will also enjoy the Oakwood Theme Park and the Folly Farm adventure park and zoo.
