General

  • Roomy site half a mile from the town of Cardigan
  • Spectacular views over Cardigan Bay and the Preseli mountains
  • Bus stop right outside the park entrance

Get close to Cardigan with a visit to this pretty site: Cardigan Caravan & Camping Site is the only campsite in the area within easy walking distance of the town - and guests will be greeted by the resident ducks, hens, Welsh cobs and Arab horses as well as a rather stately-looking white peacock.

Surrounded by mature hedgerows and oak trees, this roomy, well-equipped site at Aelybryn Farm is best suited to more mature guest looking for a quiet getaway. Make yourself at home and enjoy top-notch views (and spectacular sunsets) over Cardigan Bay and the Preseli mountains.

There'll be no worrying about navigating down small country lanes here as this site is directly off the main road and there isn't a caravan site closer to the town of Cardigan (which is within walking distance of the park). Want to leave the car or camper on site for the day? No problem: for getting out and about, guests can catch a bus from right outside the park entrance.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Please be aware this site does not have any facilities for children or teenagers: it is a quiet site more suitable for mature couples.

Pleasant site close to Cardigan. Large well kept pitches. Clean and modern toilet/shower block.

    Disliked:

No ‘reception’ - just a phone number to ring which wasn't manned. Over 5 days non-one from the site introduced themselves. It wasn’t a problem but meant questions about the facilities/local shops etc couldn’t be asked allthough a guy emptying the bins was helpfull. I think the owners live in the adjoining house but the ‘Do Not Enter’ sign left that a mystery.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review, i remember speaking to you on the phone and directing you to your pitch.

Just to point out 'the guy emptying the bins' was the owner :-)

This site is an excellent base for the surrounding area. It is a small campsite with hardstanding and electric hook up. The showers and toilets were immaculate and heated. Very quiet when we went there, so that was good. Made very welcome by the owner. Although it is walking distance to Cardigan and Tesco, it is along a very busy bypass, which I dont think there was a pavement. Lucky we had towed the car with the motorhome. We could go out and about a little easier.

    Disliked:

The sign at the entrance could be bigger. difficult to spot when your driving past.

From the manager...

Thank you for your kind review.

There is a pavement/cycle path from the campsite all the way in to Cardigan town.

Directions

Take the A487 north from Cardigan, the site is half a mile outside the town on your right, opposite Caemorgan Road. The site is signposted Cardigan Caravan and Camping at Aelybryn.

Local attractions

The ancient market town of Cardigan is only half a mile from the park (the bus in stops right outside the entrance) and offers good shopping, drinking and eating, as well as a cinema, theatre and swimming pool. It’s a place with a fascinating history, too: check out Cardigan Castle, St Dogmael's Abbey, and the beautiful Guildhall building, which now houses the town’s market.

Beach lovers, rejoice: a 10-minute drive will take you to the sands of Mwnt and Aberport, and a few minutes further away you’ll find masses more of the golden stuff at Poppit, Tresaith, Newport and Penbryn (all these can also be reached by bus, but obviously it takes a bit longer).

In addition to the thousands of rare sea birds to be found on this stretch of coast, animal fans can spot Atlantic grey seals and bottle-nosed dolphins in Cardigan Bay, visit the Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, or flit amongst the butterflies at the Felinwynt Rainforest Centre.

The equestrian-inclined will enjoy horsing around at Cardigan's Barley Saturday (end of April), the Agricultural Show (July), and nearby Aberaeron’s Festival of Welsh Ponies and Cobs (August). Autumn visitors can see the dramatic spectacle of salmon and sea trout leaping up the cascading waterfalls at Cenarth Falls.

Athletic types will find a good range of golf courses, horse riding, river and sea fishing on hand, as well as kayaking and canoeing in the picturesque Cilgerran Gorge.

For adventure seekers, this area is renowned for coasteering (high impact climbing, scrambling, canyoning, swimming, jumping and diving along the rocky coastline). Alternatively, the Ceredigion coastal path offers a more relaxed meander past tranquil coves and breathtaking beaches, plus further wildlife and birdwatching opportunities.

Families will also enjoy the Oakwood Theme Park and the Folly Farm adventure park and zoo.
