General

  • Family-friendly place to stay in west Wales
  • Quiet site above the Teifi estuary near Cardigan town
  • Sea views to the north and Preseli Hills to the south

What a woolly wicked location has Cardigan Camping and Touring Caravan Site in Ceredigion: we bet you'll be yarning on about all the things to see and do around here long after you've had to pack up and go home.

Overlooking the Teifi estuary with smashing sea views and with easy access from the coast road, Cardigan Camping is also only a mile from Cardigan town, half a mile from the Wales Coastal Path and less than five miles from the superior Welsh sands of Poppit and Mwnt.

It's also close to the West Wales Wildlife Park and to a wealth of walks leading directly from the farm straight into the viewsome Welsh countryside. Coarse fishing is available a mile away.

Facilities include well-kept loos and showers, water points and free wifi. Dogs are welcome and there are dog walking areas on site.

And, also most handy if you want to leave the car behind, Cardigan Camping is also close to its nearest bus stop (300 metres) and has woolly good links by public transport.

Rude and Discriminatory owners 05/09/2018

    The location.

    Disliked:

I booked to stay for 2 nights as I was working for a local charity. I drive a new defender and tow a small vintage caravan in very good condition which is painted in a Street Art style by professional Artists in muted colours. One of the images is an Owl, which was admired by the other campers onsite (see photos). When I approached the owners on the 2nd day to ask about paying, I was gobsmacked by the first thing that said to me. I quote "If we had seen your caravan when you arrived we wouldn't have accepted you" and... "It is below our standards". This was before I even got a "hello". The owners were rude and unfriendly, and apparently would have turned me away from their field that had only two other people staying in.

It seems that if you do not conform to their 'standards' (whatever they are) you are not welcome. I would give this site a wide berth if you are not wealthy, middle class and look in any way outside of the "norm". I left feeling most unwelcome and will not be returning! I stay in campsites across the country all the time as i travel for work and have never been treated like this before.

Very roomy pitch, also additional use of washing machine and tumble dryer which came in handy after an impromptu sea dip!! Amazing views and within travelling distance of some great beaches and experiences. The owners were always around for any queries and happy to help. Cannot recommend this campsite enough...

Local attractions

As we say, Cardigan Camping and Touring Caravan Site is in a woolly wicked west Wales location: you could spend weeks in these parts and still have to come back for more.

Sandwise, some of the best-regarded beaches and most popular beaches in Wales/all the land are close by, such as Poppit, Mwnt, Aberporth, Llangrannog, Tresaith, Newport and Newquay, and with numerous opps for fishing, coastal hiking, sandcastle comps or taking a tour/boat to spot the local dolphins, porpoise and seals (always a hit with kids).

A whirl around Oakwood theme park, an investigation of the Iron Age roundhouses at Castell Henllys fort or a peer at the inhabitants of Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park are other kid-friendly day outs in the area, and if you're at Narberth for Oakwood you might have to go back another day for the Blue Lagoon Waterpark.

Walkwise, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the Preseli Hills have miles of beaut hikes; more peacefully, have an amble around the village of Cenarth and its waterfalls, or St Dogmaels and its local market.

Cardigan a mile away has plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as swimming pools, playgrounds and cinemas.
