General

  • Small family-run park three miles from Cardigan
  • Luxury heated pool, spa and sauna
  • Pampering treatments available

It's all mighty pretty – and there's a luxury heated pool, spa and sauna open in summer here too. Get yourself pampered among the treatments offered at Brongwyn Touring Caravan and Camping Park, in a luxurious countryside location in west Wales and close to the cracking beaches of Cardigan Bay for fishing, coastal walks, swimming and golf.

Although there's a lot on offer on site, Brongwyn is a small family-run park with an easygoing and peaceful vibe. Its amenities are spotlessly maintained and include loos, free hot showers, hairdryers and a toilet for disabled guests. There's also a woodland walk, two play areas and an indoor games room.

The market town of Cardigan is three miles away to pick up supplies and the local shop is about 15 minutes' walk away.

Perfect if you want small and friendly site

My partner, our 3 boys (7, 4 and 3) and I spent 6 days at this site and had a great time.

If you are looking for a sprawling site with tonnes of activities and amenities then this isn't for you. If, however, you want a small, friendly site with a great play area for the kids, ehu and good, clean essential facilities then you'll be more than happy here.

Located just outside of Aberteifi (Cardigan), it is in a small dip accessed through a single track road - you really do feel like you are in your own private location. The welcome was friendly and, as the site wasn't full, we were given a choice of 3 pitches (they have around 30 in total). We were also given a lot of useful information about the local area.

The pitches are essentially in a single area, though it is broken up with hedges, and individual pitches are marked out and broken up by the tree line. All pitches are of a good size and we had ample space for our Orava 600XL tent. The camping area is virtually level but there is a small hill up to the washing area, swimming pool (charges apply for this), reception and play area.

The size of the site was perfect for us as it meant that we could let the kids loose and head off to the play area by themselves with no fear for their safety (being in pitch number one helped but none of the pitches are that far away). All three of the kids loved the playground (there are actually two play areas which cover a range of age ranges).

Even with the play area though, this wasn't a noisy site and the children didn't run riot. The only time noise levels rose was when the local ice cream van made an appearance on a couple of days and was followed around the site by a number of kids! :-)

It was a great base for us and we headed out every day (which sadly meant that we didn't get to try out the swimming pool - though it did look good). Aberteifi is a nice town - and we would thoroughly recommend the Pizza Tipi if you are looking for a bite to eat. You have easy access to a lot of beaches and the area is good if you want to go dolphin spotting.

Overall, a lovely site that we are happy to recommend.

We all thought the park was great, nice and secluded. The showers and toilets are way above what you would expect in a small holiday park like this one, the Park was close to most places you would want to go and visit.

    Disliked:

We all agreed that the park could do with some ware to have a quite drink at night rather than having to go out (but speaking to the owner I know it is hard for him to get staff after a certain time so I can understand why they don't have this).
That really is the only thing we could find that was wrong.

From the manager...

Thank you for your lovely comments about our little park (especially our toilet / shower facilities) - sorry we don't provide an onsite bar but appreciate your understanding on this as we are just a small site - and we are very pleased that as a whole you all enjoyed your stay with us and would recommend and return! Look forward to seeing you another time!

From the manager...

Considering that this was your second stay at our campsite – and that during your stay this summer you even asked us if you could reserve three pitches together for yourselves and your friends next year – we feel that your very low rating for our cleanliness, accommodation and facilities is not a true assessment of our standards. (Especially when comparing your review to other guests who stayed at the same time and rated us favourably)
We are disappointed but not really surprised by your very negative personal comments about us being unfriendly and unwelcoming – as you were not happy about the fact that we had to speak to your children on several occasions when they were not being supervised and were causing problems for ourselves and other guests. You’ve said that you won’t be re-visiting – probably just as well!

The camp site was well maintained and the showers and toilets where absolutely spotless. There is a big park for the kids to play in, one for the little ones which is attached to a bigger one for the older kids. We went on a little forest walk which is located at the back of the camp and played in the games room on wet days. The local beach is absolutely breath taking, we spent many of days trying to spot the dolphins. There is a lot to do in the area activity wise and its very close to local amenities. Very welcoming and generally a lovely campsite!

    Disliked:

The toilets where a little bit far away from the non electric hookup pitches for little ones desperate for the toilet in the night. However, easily solved with a potty or portable loo. Fine for adults though!

From the manager...

We found the price of using the pool somewhat prohibitive. £19 for a family of five each time. This meant we only used the pool twice during our stay.

Facilities are very clean, toilet block was clean and tidy. Showers were great. We used the pool facilties and these were okay, a bit pricey though for us as a family it costed £16, so we used the pool once. This charge is per use, per day. We got a little confused at first.

Children liked the play park, there are two sites one for little toddlers, one for school aged children with basketball hoop. Nice open space for them to run around but off some steam.

The camp site itself is very tidy, well maintained and lovely pitches. The odd hole in the ground and pine cone. These are dropped from local squirells, which were great entertainment.
Water and electric avaliable on every pitch, where we stayed as we paid for electric, this was our first time and it made a difference having a little oscillating heater and somewhere to charge our devices. I am on virgin mobile and had 4G on the park. My husband on 02 though had no data till we exited the site.

    Disliked:

Didn't dislike anything. Although a caution, on entering and exiting site the hills and corners are sharp. Beware for any lowered vehicles or heavy loaded ones.

From the manager...

Thank you for your great feedback about your recent stay at Brongwyn – delighted that your family enjoyed staying here and even managed to see our resident (very naughty!) squirrels! Hope to see you again!
