General

  • Excellently-kept village site 12 miles from Aberystwyth
  • A few minutes' walk from Devils Bridge Falls
  • In a walking, birdwatching and wildlife haven

Ever been to Devils Bridge Falls? If not, you really should, for they really are devilishly handsome.

And a simple few minutes' stroll from the Falls is popular and immaculately-maintained Woodlands Caravan Park: use it as a waterfall pitstop, or as a base for seeing what else is on offer on the Ceredigion coastline and in west Wales (spoiler alert: quite a bit).

Woodlands is in the hills in Devils Bridge village, in a walking haven with many walks leading directly from the site, and in a well-placed locale for fishing, mountain biking, golfing and birdwatching too (you'll often see a red kite or two soaring overhead).

It's a few minutes' walk from the village pub and the Vale of Rheidol steam train, and four miles from the red kite feeding station at Bwlch Nant yr Arian's Forestry Centre. Aberystwyth is 12 miles away and is one of several sandy beaches to visit up and down the Ceredigion coast.

The amenities block at Woodlands has very cleanly kept toilets and free showers. Also on site is a shop, tearooms, a laundry room, games room and a play area; a free wifi hotspot is maintained for the use of all guests.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

The caravan park is in an idyllic setting. Devil’s Bridge is on the doorstep where there is also a nice bar attached to the hotel there, and there are amazing walks with superb views leading from the site into the hills. The staff we met are very friendly and helpful, and there is a great tearoom and shop. The shower block is extremely clean and spacious and the Gypsy Pod we stayed in was perfect. It is so lovely and peaceful. When we were sitting outside the Pod eating lunch one day we watched a pair of red kites circling overhead for ages. I don’t think there are many places you can do that! Woodlands Caravan Park is wonderful and we will definitely be going back. We would certainly recommend it to everyone.

Lovely welcome at reception, very friendly and enthusiastic about our stay in the area. Fabulous clean toilets and shower block - well heated, especially as the weather was still quite cold! Great base for those visiting the nearby mountain biking centre (which was also fantastic & well worth the journey) and is only a 10min drive away. We will definately go back to do more of the mountain bike trails and stay at the Woodlands!

Just got back from staying 4days staying in the gypsy pod. Was brilliant. We have stayed in a pod before with nothing inside. But this one had to chairs that folded down to a huge bed and 2 little tables.
This works really well because you can store your bags n shoes underneath. Also the heater keeps the pod lovely and cosy for the colder nights. The actual site is quiet and peaceful which is great. Secure to let your children run around and play on the park they have. Toilets and showers were spotless some of the best I've seen. Will definitely be staying again

Lovely big gravel pitch with lots of space. Easy to find and very helpful staff. The site is immaculate and set in beautiful surroundings. The toilet and shower facilities are excellent and spotless. There is a pub in walking distance and it's a 15 minute drive to the nearest town. Although we didn't come with children there are a few swings and slides. This place is a gold nugget and we will be back.

Sloping pitch. Family of mice that set up home under our tent.

From the manager...

Thank you for your feed back. I'm glad that you liked our bathroom facilities, camp site shop and coffee shop. Sadly due to the bad weather we have endured over the winter not all of our flat pitches were in use over the Easter break due to them being too muddy. In such cases we have to offer the slightly slopping pitch which at least drains better. I'm surprised about the mice family; I haven't heard of that happening before. Thank you for staying with us.

Local attractions

The Devils Bridge Falls and the Three Bridges nature trail walk are only about a quarter of a mile from Woodlands Caravan Park and are – cleverly – what most guests go for first. The Vale of Rheidol Steam Train and the Hafod Arms Hotel & Bar are both within the same distance away.

Four miles away are four top west Wales attractions for all types: the daily red kite feeding at Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forestry Centre; its mountain bike trail; the guided walks and wooded landscape of the Hafod estate, and the Silver Mountain Experience, a day out among the old mines, streams and forests of the Cambrian mountains.

The Elan Valley 15 miles away is an essential site for Welsh wildlife and is often called the Welsh Lake District: head here for the Elan Valley Reservoirs and the only purpose-built arts and crafts mini village in Wales. Or if you fancy the beach, the sands of Borth beach and the sand dunes of Ynys Las are within 15 and 17 miles.

Another beach is at nearby Aberystwyth, along with its famed Constitution Hill, Camera Obscura and cliff railway, and the Magic of Life Butterfly House, with hundreds of butterflies, heaps of giant caterpillars, odd insects and walks (and more waterfalls) in the Rheidol Valley. If the kids like this, take them along too to Fantasy Farm Park 19 miles away.

Must see

  • Vale of Rheidol Railway (Aberystwyth) (10.2 miles)
  • MOMA Wales - Y Tabernacl (14.7 miles)
  • Rheilffordd Talyllyn Railway (17.5 miles)

National Trust

  • Dolaucothi Gold Mines (23.5 miles)
