General

  • Glamping on a historic farm five minutes' drive from Aberporth beach
  • 10 minutes' drive from boat trips and activities in Cardigan
  • Private lake, picnic tables and plenty of space for campfires

Slow the pace of life for a bit with a stay at Sloeberry Farm… this west Wales site is on the grounds of Cryngae Mawr, a former farm and mill, and has all the space, shelter and stunning views you’ll want for a rural escape.

Being a glamping site, all the basics are already sorted for you – you’ll need to bring your food along, of course (stop by the supermarket as you come through Aberteifi, aka Cardigan, 10 minutes away, to arrive laden with goodies) but there’s no need to lug firewood as you can pick that up here. Beds, bathrooms and kitchen kit are all ready and waiting too, so that means you can get on with the important business of holidaying.

It’s highly possible that you’ll choose to spend a fair chunk of your break pottering around on site, taking in the rural views, scoping out the various nooks and crannies for picnic-spot potential or taking a wander around the lake. Campfires and barbecues are not just allowed but positively encouraged, as are outdoor feasts on the picnic tables and snoozes in the deckchairs.

Do consider mustering the energy to do a bit of local exploration, though: Aberporth, five minutes away, has just one of the 10 (10) fab beaches in the local area, and you can also fill days with castle visits, coast path walks, dolphin spotting and all sorts of outdoorsy antics. Can’t face so much decision making? The folk on site are happy to offer up top tips on outings, walks and pubs nearby.

Bed in the tent. Farm animals

    Disliked:

Only 2 toilets for 7 tents ( potentially 28 people).
Only 2 showers but one constantly had cold water despite the advice of switching it off and then on again.
No shelter for cooking when weather is bad.
Nowhere to hang wet clothing and towels.

Welcoming family run site, with personal touches. 10/08/2018

Glamping is still camping but without needing the hassle of packing the tent and equipment too. As seasoned camper this was a wonderful luxury, the kids loved the novelty.

Loads to do in the area around, great pockets of beaches, views, walks, towns and activities.

Supermarkets and town close but not intrusive.

Wonderful relaxing 5 night stay, small site (just the right size!) family owed and run. Thoughtful provision of equipment, wood supplies and information on the area. Very approachable hosts, made us all feel welcomed.

Facilities are simple but clean, flushing loos and gas heated showers (which run at the perfect temperature for warming up after wet suits on the beach!).

    Definitely recommend.

    Disliked:

No hot water at washing up sinks, but this is easy remedied, camp sites don't always have this, but the tents do have a kettle and (gas included) stove!

Loved the view, tent was nice and spacious, tripod fire pit gave me a chance to cook on a fire, gas burners were great too! Hot showers were lively, was reallh vool showering while hearing birds and the rustle of trees! Toilets always clean and plenty of loo roll!! Scenery was gorgeous! Jo and Shaun were really friendly and welcoming, kept up the pretence as I'd told them it was a surprise birthday trip and my g/f didn't know what we were doing. She finally guessed during the tour Jo gave us. All in all a brilliant stay, would definitely come hear again!!

    Disliked:

    Nothing to dislike!!

Wow, where to start. Getting there was easy, the instructions were very clear. The toilet facilities were amazing, hot showers and fully flushing toilets. The host (Sean) was very helpful, making sure to give us brochures of the best things to do, telling us how to find the best restaurants and he was available to answer any questions via text or if we bumped into him on the campsite. The bell tent was fully equipped with everything we needed to be comfortable, including proper, clean beds. There was also a stove, cool box, fire pit (with very reasonably priced wood and coal to buy at the car park) and pick-nick bench. There were charging ports near the car park but we only used it once because I brought a large portable charger so we could charge our phones in the tent.

    Disliked:

The grill, pots, pans, bowls and plates were not properly cleaned but this is not enough to remove a star. Everything else was amazing.

From the manager...

Thanks Jonny really glad you enjoyed your stay and that you are already looking forward to coming back next year. Apologies if you found some issues with the pots and pans, I would like to reassure you that all crockery, pans etc are inspected before guests arrive, we'll discuss this with the guys that prepared your tent.

Local attractions

Where else would one start in Cardigan Bay than at the coast? Make a beeline for the beach in Aberporth (five minutes’ drive) for family-friendly days of sand and sea, or pick from one of the other beaches on the lengthy list of possibilities: Mwnt, Poppit Sands, Llangrannog and Tresaith are among those within a 20-minute drive.

If you’re not a sitting on the beach sort, you’re only a short way from strolls on the coast path, or you can head down to Cardigan (10 minutes) for boat trips to spot the dolphins and porpoises that generally loiter in these waters. An activity centre in town can sort adventurous types with days of coasteering, sea kayaking and surf lessons, and there’s canoeing 20 minutes away on the Teifi River gorge.

Staying dry (well, unless it rains…), go ruins hunting at Cilgerran Castle (15 minutes), visit the elegant villa and farm animals at Llanerchaeron estate (half an hour), or get set to encounter all sorts of beasties large and small at the Welsh Wildlife Centre (20 minutes).
