General

  • Family park a short stroll from Lydstep beach
  • Free evening entertainment, with children welcome
  • A few miles from Heatherton World of Activities and the Manor House

There are some spectacular sands on the coast of west Wales. (And on the north and south coasts, but you can get to them on your next break.) Make for Whitewell Holiday Park Caravan and Camping to be in the sandy thick of things in the west: this family-run site is five minutes' walk from the nearest beach and five minutes' drive to the sea fishing and award-winning sands of Tenby. Sounds all White to us.

Whitewell's also close to fab family days out at the likes of Folly Farm, Heatherton World of Activities and Tenby's Dinosaur Park – if the kids aren't too tuckered out after a day at those, children are welcome at the lounge bar in the evenings to join in the entertainment: karaoke, disco, dancing, bingo and trivia evenings in July and August, as well as performances by Whitewell's resident singer Grace Ashton and others.

All entertainment is included in the pitch price, and the lounge bar also has two large widescreen TVs to catch up on the latest from the outside world.

The shower block, next to the bar and shop, has hot water, deep hot water basins and loos. The park also has a laundry room with storage, children's playground, games room with pool table and arcade games. Tourist information is available at the site shop.

For food, meals and takeaways are available from the bar to have there or to take to the tables, chairs and umbrellas of the patio for alfresco eats.

Located less than 10 minute drive from Tenby. This is a well run site with clean facilities and no shortage of hot water. Pitches are a good size with reasonable spacing between each pitch. Electric hookup points are very reliable with no trips.

I have read some negative reviews, but having stayed at numerous sites over the last 10 years this is as good as most of the CC Club sites that I generally visit.

    Disliked:

My only concern is the number of showers, an additional block or increase in the number would alleviate this.

Having to pay £24 for my two little Jack Russell's then being told they are not allowed inside the bar which opens at 7:30 and it was dark and cold where we could "sit outside" the bar no problem, what was I paying so much to have my dogs for I picked up after them no one else.
Why charge for dogs if you don't let them inside buildings ruined the evenings for us and will never be back!

Location short walk to nice beach. Need to cross busy road and walk through other holiday park to access beach. Lots of other beaches including Tenby beach within driving distance. We visited on super busy August bank holiday weekend and site was absolutely at a capacity but on all but the Saturday night of the bank holiday there was plenty of room to kickabout a football and also play in the small wooded area. Great site for kids to visit! They were quite strict about where you pitched to maximise number of tents and pitched in rows. The owners very helpful and pleasant and responded to any issues. WIFI was accessible only when near the clubhouse. Liked the onsite burger stand.

    Disliked:

Not many toilets or showers for huge number of tents onsite and they were a bit dated but clean and we timed our visits to avoid peak times so surprisingly had no queues. Pitching in rows.

Great location - a ten minute drive to Tenby town and a short walk to lydstep beach. Also close to heatherton and bluestone.

    Disliked:

The toilets were far away from the tent pitches and closest to the static caravans (who arguable don't need toilets close by).

Local attractions

There are some beaut beaches around these parts, with the closest, Lydstep, less than half a mile away from Whitewell Holiday Park. Jetskis and kayaks can be hired here if you want to take to the water, and a couple of golf courses – from many in the area – are nearby.

Tenby is a few minutes' drive away and worth at least a few days, on its North, South and Castle beaches, browsing around its shops, cafés and restaurants or taking a seal safari trip.

From Tenby harbour, one of the most popular things to do in the area is the boat trip to tiny Caldey Island, one of the Holy Islands of Britain and still with a Trappist monk population. Tenby harbour is also where anglers go to cast off; sea angling trips are easy to organise from Tenby too.

Little monsters should enjoy playing among the dinosaurs in the woods at Tenby's Dinosaur Park where there are plenty of other things going on, like rides, indoor and outdoor play, a games garden and a mile-long dinosaur trail.

Just outside Tenby, Heatherton World of Activities and the Anna Ryder Richardson's Manor House Wildlife Park opposite will keep everyone busy for another day or two among the animals, paintballing and go-karting.

After that, the animals and play of award-winning Folly Farm is about five miles from Tenby along the coast at Kilgetty.

Must see
