General

  • Horticultural haven built by owner Will across more than 30 years
  • Close to Saundersfoot beach, Tenby harbour, zoos and amusement parks
  • Garden house surrounded by lush greenery for fun candlelit soirees

Come to Will's Field... an immaculately landscaped garden site in properly peaceful Pembrokeshire, where the grounds have been colourfully cultivated for over 30 years to create a spectacularly scenic garden – just take a peek at the pics.

The location of this serene spot is something to rave about too, because you’re about half an hour’s walk from Saundersfoot beach and a five-minute drive from the 13th-century walled harbour town of Tenby and its cute cobblestone streets, smashing beaches and brightly coloured buildings.

On site, have yourself a piping hot pot of afternoon tea in Will's garden house, surrounded by blooms, mature trees and bushes full of chattering birds; stick around in the evenings to join other guests around the garden house dining table for fably fun music-filled and candlelit soirees.

The accommodation area can be found in the lush little walled herb and veg garden, guaranteeing a good night’s snoozing… And not only is Will a dab hand at gardening... several of the structures on site have also been hand built by the man himself too, including a sanitary block with toilets and hot showers (just as pristine as his manicured lawns).

For all your essential foodie needs (local wines and ales and lots of local cheeses – definitely essentials), the farm shop at the entrance of the property will have you well sorted, and for anything beyond the basics, you’ll find everything you could need over in nearby Tenby.

Please note

This is an adults-only site. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

A charge of £1.00 applies for the use of shower.

Entrance to Will's Field is very narrow, and any vehicles larger than height 3m, width 2.4m and length 6.7 m will not be able to drive safely into the site.

A brilliant, old fashioned camp site 06/10/2018

I knew I would love it before we got there. The grounds are full of interesting and unusual shrubs, the site is quiet and clean and it is a camp site to be treasured and not divulged to contemporary campers wanting hot and cold showers and hair dryers, hamburger bars on site and tarmac roads. Lovely part of Wales with endless and very clean sandy beaches and living rock pools.

It was quiet and friendly, we didn’t have to worry about being woken up by children running around. It was close to both saundersfoot and Tenby.

Quiet campsite. Good location. Not for those expecting hot water! 09/09/2018

Pitching our tent in the Garden. Having a quiet corner to ourselves. Having use of the greenhouse. Fairly close to Tenby.

    Disliked:

The semi clean Toilet and shower. No not water in the toilet. Having to pay a pound for hot water in the shower is nearly ridiculous when it's £15 a night. Also no hot water to clean pots with.

Local attractions

Saundersfoot beach is an easy five-minute drive, or about half an hour’s walk if you feel like stretching your legs, and there are plenty more spectacular sandy spots to explore along the same stretch of coastline.

The narrow cobbled streets, inns, gift shops and restaurants of the historic and cheerfully colourful walled harbour town of Tenby are around 10 minutes away by car. Several fab beaches stretching from the north, the west and the south of the town are here too: amble along Tenby’s South beach toward Giltar Point and the start of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path for smashing views of Caldey Island.

And while you’re in Tenby, you might as well take advantage of its buzzing harbour: hop on a boat out to St Catherine’s Island to see its 19th-century Palmerston Fort, or over to Caldey Island to wander around its tiny village, hang out on Priory Beach, or take a trip back in time with a visit to its Norman Chapel, Old Priory and St Illtyd's Church. Another historic hotspot worth visiting around the area is Manorbier Castle – film buffs might be especially interested to learn that it was used as a film location for 1989’s The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Several animally adventures can also be had within very easy reach: visit nearby Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo in Kilgetty, or to Manor House Wildlife Park over near the village of St Florence; run by TV’s Anna Ryder Richardson, it’s set across 52 acres of Pembrokeshire parkland and houses heaps of wild critters, with several walkthroughs where you can sit and stroll among two types of wallaby, see a family of gibbons (Steve, Lisa and their little son Bryn – aww) get on with family life in the primate enclosure, and meet five species of lemur in another dedicated area. Other attractions a short drive away include Dinosaur Park and Oakwood Theme Park.

Must see

  • Pembroke Castle (8.6 miles)
