General

  • Family-run rural site two miles from Broad Haven and St Brides Bay
  • Launderette, washing-up area and hot showers
  • Close to watersports, coasteering and whale watching

As it's Pembrokeshire, spectacular coastline is pretty much a given. But the chunk near South Cockett Caravan and Camping Park is properly splendid, home to the village and beach of Broad Haven, overlooking St Brides Bay, and within easy reach of the Pembrokeshire seaside towns of Haverfordwest and Milford Haven as well as the teeny city – and more eye-watering scenery – of St Davids.

A friendly and family-run park, South Cockett is two miles from Broad Haven, in scenic rural surroundings. Its tree-lined hedges separate areas of well-kept, level and generously-sized grass pitches, all on their field edges leaving loads of room for kids to run around and play.

The basic but well looked after amenities include a launderette with washing machine and tumble dryer, a washing-up room, waste water and chemical toilet disposal points, freezer pack facilities, toilets, and sinks and showers with hot water.

A huge supermarket is five miles away in Haverfordwest, selling absolutely everything you'll need for a barbecue among this stunning Pembrokeshire scenery.

Perfect location as far as we are concerned. Easy to find off main road, 10 mins past Haverfordwest and literally 5 mins from Broad Haven & Little Haven. Stright run back into Haverfordwest for supplies at largeTesco Extra. 30 mins back to Tenby/Saundersfoot and 30 mins further on to St Davids. Really allowed us to visit lot of different towns / beaches in 4 days.
Very spacious pitch, in fact we pretty much had whole field to ourselves ( just us and another 3 or 4 tents in what probably is the last area to be used / overspill area - as all other fields / areas of site were pretty full with tourers and tents).
Owner was very welcoming on arrival and really friendly every time we bumped into him during our stay, took us to camp area on arrival and said we could have choice of any available pitches, which was great.
Fields / outdoor areas well maintained and spotless, pitch very flat, well draining and easy to tap in pegs.
Toilet / washroom / shower facilities basic but very clean.
Apart from one or two tents / tourers in the neighbouring field the site was lovely and quiet from around 10.30 - 11.00 at night, which suits us as we are early risers that pack in lots of daytime activities ( I suppose this does depend on being lucky with your neighbours a little though, but have to say it was the quietest site we have stayed on - I am a light sleeper and find it very difficult to go to sleep when someone is talking / laughing / shouting a few feet away).
As far as we are concerned its the ideal site for us in an ideal spot. All in all best camping trip we have every had

We had a great week at this well organised and spacious site. The owner was friendly and knowledgeable, the location for exploring the surrounding countryside and beaches was excellent. Nice hot showers to clean up after a busy day... All in all a lovely stay that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone with or without kids!

I was also very impressed to see a great focus on recycling by the owner and his team, taking lengths to separate out already bagged rubbish into the correct bins - nice work!

The nice big field for the tent pitches, was lovely and quiet and had a massive open space in the centre with a goal post for the kids to play. The toilets were kept clean and well stocked and the shower rooms were clean and tidy with nice hot showers. The gentleman running the site is a lovely man and was lovely to stop on numerous occasions to have a chat. He also let us use his freezer to re-freeze our ice blocks. The campsite is just a short distance to the the nearest beach at north haven and about 4 miles to the nearest town which was ideal to top up our food supplies and get fish and chips :-)

Local attractions

The nearest beaches to the site are Broad Haven and Little Haven, spacious stretches of sand edged with waters popular for surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing and fishing. A surf school is in Broad Haven.

Both villages have easy access to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, running for 186 spectacular shoreline miles from Amroth to St. Dogmaels. From Broad Haven, hike the 11 miles to St Martin's Haven, via Little Haven and St Brides, or take the 12-mile path from there to Solva, past Newgale and Black Point.

It's a wildlife haven on and around the water here too, so look out on your travels for seabirds on the cliffs and seals, porpoises and dolphins in the waters below. (Or possibly a UFO: the Havens were the scene of a few alleged sightings in the 1970s.)

If you haven't managed to spy any marine mammals, book a dolphin or whale watching trip from the tiny city of St Davids half an hour's drive away, or a wildlife watching tour on and around the RSPB reserve of Ramsey Island, from St Justinian's within 40 minutes by car.

Pembrokeshire castles are pretty well known around the country/world too, so take the car the 30 minutes or so to Carew Castle, a mighty sight on the edge of a 23-acre pond. Then let the kids let off steam at Oakwood Theme Park, around 10 minutes' drive to Carew's north.

Must see

  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (7.8 miles)
