General

  • Scenic site overlooking St Brides Bay
  • A working farm set in open countryside
  • Coarse fishing lake within easy driving distance

Plenty of mighty purty places are in Pembrokeshire. And one of the county's purtiest is St Brides Bay, the mouth of water and coast from Skomer to Ramsey islands – it's part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and has a few Sites of Special Scientific Interest thrown in to boot.

Overlooking this purty lot is Nolton Cross Caravan Park, a mile and a half inland from the hamlet of Nolton Haven, and set in open countryside as part of a working farm.

The kids have plenty of space for ball games on site as well as a play area that's centrally situated to all areas so they can play safely and parents can have peace. A coarse fishing lake with views towards the Preseli Hills is about 500 metres from the park: we'd call this vista mighty purty too.

Please note

Group bookings of 4 people (under 25) or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Honestly the only complaint I have is that the toilet/shower block and washing facilities are quite a distance from the touring pitches

Beautiful shepherds huts 08/05/2018

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Rebecca H. Confirmed

  • Thrift shepherd's hut
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked:

Beautifully furnished shepherds hut, nice view to the sea, had everything we needed - nice crockery, oven and hob.
Great location between Broadhaven and Newgale beaches
It’s really cosy - a nice deck with a table to sit out on.
Showers and toilets were clean and well maintained.

    Disliked:

Not much or incorrect information provided such as where to eat or shop, the booklet said there was a shop at the camp but later we were told that’s only in summer. The toilets and showers are the complete other opposite end of the campsite - near the static caravans (who don’t need them) and no where near the tents and huts (who do!)

    Nothing

    Disliked:

Pitch was full of dog mess that wasn't once cleaned up, and the owners dog roams free messing on and around tents, pitch not been cut so wet and awful, no wifi (its chargable). Showers grubby and a very very long walk away especially with young children, erecting a steel barn in the farm so started work very early in mornings so rudely awoken to banging metal every morning around 5am. Washer/dryer has seen better days it took nearly 3 hours to dry 1 load of washing so it cost an arm and a leg. Advertises a fishing lake but doesn't mention its chargable so we had a very dissapointed teenager as would not give this site another penny. Regret wasting a weeks holiday on this site and would never go back.

Local attractions

We did say St Bride's Bay was mighty pretty – and it and Pembrokeshire have a mighty bit to do too.

The sandy beaches and watersports of Newgale, Broad Haven and Whitesands Bay are all within easy reach, as is the Pembrokeshire Coast Path (a coastal bus runs daily in summer for those who don't want to walk).

Skomer, Ramsey and Caldy islands are a bit of a must if you're in this part of the world: reach Ramsey from St Davids, Caldy from Tenby, and Skomer from Dale and Martins Haven.

Also nearby are St Davids Cathedral and the Bishops Palace, Oakwood Leisure Park, Folly Farm and the country parks of Llysyfran and Scolton Manor. Horse riding, surfing and fishing are all available within three miles.

Must see

  • St Davids Cathedral (9.0 miles)
  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (10.0 miles)
  • Pembroke Castle (11.8 miles)

National Trust

  • St David's Visitor Centre and Shop (9.1 miles)
  • Stackpole Estate (14.8 miles)
